I guess Holder and the NAACP is upset that the USSC ruled that voter ID was Constitutional in 2008. Of course the UN can go to *ell.

Especially is the KoSA weighing on voting rights....

Hasn't the US declared the UN to be a joke? Going to the UN instead of the US gov't is like a child going to his little sister after his mom told him no.

America is self destructing before our very eyes and faster than anybody thought, good luck to you all your going to need it, the enemy that is within is winning, one of their biggest weapons is the constitution.

They Are Using The Constitution To Destroy The Constitution

Keep your gun close by and for god sake keep it loaded, the enemy isn't the nice warm and fuzzy little guy he is making you believe he is.

Not sure of the forum, but both folks raise interesting points...

Once you are granted clemency your conviction is essentially erased.. as your record is essentially cleared.

but that does not make any difference to Fox News, if they ain't lying, they ain't reporting.

Pennsylvania just passed a voter ID law that should allay the fears of the second person mentioned. Any state issued license or state issued ID or student ID or even nursing home ID ( didn't know they had them) is valid so it is a very broad category of what is acceptable. The intent is not to exclude but to verify that the proper person is voting...
You need ID to buy cigarettes, alcohol (if you look under 30 years old), buy an Amtrak ticket or get on a plane, open a bank account, buy a house, go to the doctor (recent development to prevent medical ID fraud- more on that later- though not a requirement yet but soon), buy Sudafed (prevent meth labs from buying up the inventory for using in cooking it) so
what is the big deal about asking people for ID when they vote to prevent fraud????
Is there any information on how many people in this country who are legally allowed to vote ( excluding undocumented immigrants/illegals) do not have photo ID? I have a feeling it is a very small number.......

Is this a real need or a felt need???

In my area, it was major issue in the 2010 campaign with one of the political parties having absentee ballots mailed back to a PO Box from a fictitious voter assistance committee...instead of the county board of elections...

Isn't harder to measure incidents of voter fraud when you don't allow a really good way of checking on it like with ID's? Like when they check them at package stores to help reduce the amount of underage drinking.

Something has to be done, America is infested with people who should not be allowed to vote in fact they shouldn't even be allowed to go outdoors.

I think the fact that you don't have to in any way prove who you are, when you go do something as important as voting, is kinda baffling to me. Especially when we all know how corrupt and evil politicians and their respective parties can be. To me it seems like something that should have been required a long time ago.

From a general pov, I look at the voting/ID issue like I do the right to bear arms. While I 100% support the 2nd amendment, and the right to vote, I think each requires some common sense rules and guidelines. Be it a licensing process with respect to guns, or proving you are who you say you are when you vote, there should be some common sense standard applied. What I don't support is any measure that acts as, be it intentionally or not, an obstacle that prevents someone from accomplishing either. i.e. I don't want a law/rule/regulation/requirement/guideline that impedes an individuals ability to aquire a weapon, or vote in an election. Just like I don't think obtaining a card or license is too much of an infringement on the 2nd amendment, I don't think here in the 21st century it's too much to ask someone to bring a photo ID when they go to vote. Especially when it seems as if the acceptable forms of identification are fairly broad as well.

NAACP is a Racist Organization, people shouldn't listen to a damn thing they say, why don't they want Voter ID, why don't they want Voter ID, answer that one without putting any of the old tired Racist Sh!t in it.

The answer is they know all the morons that can't, that are to stupid or won't get an ID are all democrats.

    No, they're not.

But they're a black org, so of course you attack them.

I support voter ID 100%. As such, I believe the government should be required to issue ID for free to any citizen who needs it by virtue of not having a driver's license or passport.

To me that is a ridiculously common sense measure to fight voter fraud. The only people who oppose such measures are liberals who know they are the ones who benefit most from voter fraud in the first place.

I think liberals might be more likely to be against it, but I don't think they're the only group who are. I'd bet a good chunk of libertarians may find it to be a type of "papers please" proposition.

You need an ID to buy ciggarettes or to get on an airplane but you don't need an ID to vote?
Funny how the democrats are never concerned about the equel rights protections of tax paying established citizens.
Never any concern about how every fraudulent vote wipes out property owning taxpaying citizens vote.

The granny state right strikes again... more rules and regulations from the folks that complain about big government.
