Great point. I personally value the work John has been doing on the Pats beat. I don't see the shadowy figures around every corner that some seem to see, at least where it comes to Tomase. I think he does a legitimately honest job, and I think his reporting has enhanced the Herald's coverage, along with the work Breer does with the blog, which is fantastic.
If we think that in the end, the question was legit, then why shouldn't he ask it? It was a respectful question. What kind of reporter would he be if he didn't ask questions because he thought he might not get answers?
I've been a fan for four decades, and I'm telling you, this is far and away the best coverage we have ever had of this team, hands down. Its not even close, with the Herald guys, Reiss, Gaspar, and others like Eric McHugh. They all write with sincere enthusiasm for the game and respect for what this team has accomplished. You can not ask for more.
Anybody who wants to complain about 'the media' now, at least as it concerns the beat coverage of the team, just feeds the kind of kool aid drinking fanboy stereotype that bottom feeders like Dan Shaughnessy love to crow about.
