Here are the Muslim satirical cartoons published in Denmark that are the cause of extensive Muslim riots, threats of death and kidnapping of Europeans...

    http://www.humaneventsonline.com/sarticle.php?id=12146

Let's review recent examples of Muslim outrage...
*Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. Whoops! No widespread Muslim outrage.
*Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. Again, no Muslim outrage.
*Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.
*A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia. Muslims shoot children in the back. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslims fire rocket-propelled grenades into schools full of children in Israel. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.
*Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage
*Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.
*Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged.

    thanks to neal b

It's legit for Muslims to be pissed and to call for boycots if offended. But the death threats and threats of kidnapping are sadly typical.

There was some outrage from the Muslim world after 9/11. What's also tough to say is how much outrage there is, since we only hear what the media prints and shows. I agree that people outraged over this need to get their priorities in check.

Somehow, I don't know how, the west needs to enable and energize the vast number of peaceful families who are Muslim and free them from fear of reprisals or outcast by the radical, yet powerful fringe. It's even an issue here in the states.

War is not the answer. Education, aid in exchange for political reform, etc. are the answers. The war on Iraq is radicalizing people here and there, though there more, in part because the war is taking place on their soil.

You don't rationalize with the Muslim world, you cross them they want you DEAD.

Don't try preaching all this "Liberal Love Freedom Civil Liberty" crap to these people.
They still behead human beings just as they did 3000 years ago.

Don't kid yourself about 9/11 "outrage from muslims" they secretly went into their Mosques, shut the doors and danced.

Oh please, there are millions and millions of normal, "liberal" Muslims who want nothing more than to be left alone. There are also the Muslim versions of Harry Boy and ELORocks, which are the ones we always hear about protesting this, burning that, or chanting death to somebody.

    Ding! Ding! Ding!

This is just another example of right-wingers thrashing freedom of speech. Only this time it's radical right-wing Muslim extremists.

Those "Radical Right Wing Muslims" are sure making a lot of noise in the world and you very seldom hear a word of remorse from your so called "good muslims" until someone draws a cartoon of them.

Its just a matter of time before they gat their "Carving Knives" out over these Cartoons, then after the slaughter you will hear nothing from the "Good Muslims", NOTHING.

Yeah right. Extreme Muslim fundamentalists are really "liberal". Actually, they are the epitome of anti-liberal. They hate American values like free speech, womens rights, and tolerance for minorities. Sounds like a lot of American right-wing extremists to me.

    I agree.

Everybody, "good Muslims" included, needs to stand up to religious right-wing reactionaries. That includes religious right-wing reactionaries abroad as much as it means religious right-wing reactionaries at home.

And Muslims don't hear anything about "good Americans", only the ones that talk about invading their countries and converting them all to Christianity. Each peoples' media lets them hear exactly what they want them to hear. Your point of view is so narrow you're incapable of even seeing it.

Yeah, Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, James Dobson, and all those other guys that have managed to get a disproportionate share of the power in the Republican Party.

Don't you see? The Muslim version of me would feel the same way about America as the American, agnostic version of me feels about the Muslim world. Some people like to take sides and make it "us versus them". Some of us know that we're all human, there are good and bad apples in every bunch, and if we don't make friends with the good apples, we're all going to go down on the same sinking ship.

Don't you see? There is no Muslim version of you. In order for a Muslim to become like you, he/she would have to renounce Islam. Which, of course, would then allow other Muslims to put them to death.

What you believe makes a difference.

I call BS. From growing up in a town with a diverse population (Jewish/Christian/Muslim) I know several very nice, yet practicing Muslims. They face Mecca and pray 5 times a day, but their values are pretty compatible with ours. I'd bet most Muslims living overseas aren't quite as benevolant, but they haven't been given the chance (like you said, they either have to "go with the flow", or be put to death by radicals. Their government doesn't give them the freedom of speech we get).

JLC, I'm surprised at you. Just as in Christianity there are extremists, the same is true in the Muslim religion. Let's remember that Christian culture has throughout history found excuses for commiting mass murder (Hitler, King Leopold, Colonialism, etc.). In fact, to the best of my knowledge, Christian societies have only been reasonably civilized since the 50s, when countries like France finally renounced Colonialism. There's no guarantee that Christian nations will not repeat their offenses down the road.

As far as Muslims go, there are obviously are many radical fundamentalists, but the majority of Muslims probably just want to get on with their daily lives, and the majority of Muslims aren't radical. The radicals can mostly be found in oppressive Muslim countries, and even there they clearly represent a minority. If you knew any Muslims, you would realize that most do not support the radicals, yet remain devout.

As one of the more enlightened posters on here says, "all muslims aren't terrorists, but most terrorists are muslims"

Please, No Timothy McVeigh crap :rocker:
