I think he's right on target..the US has posed more of a world threat to peace
than many think..and name calling won't change that...

The whole Murtha situation is captivating. Its so fun to watch a bunch of chickenhawks explain exactly what the military can and can't accomplish to a guy who's been there and done that.

Did you read the op-ed I posted? Are you saying Sgt. Seavey and Wade Zirkle are chickenhawks? Do you think patsfan13 is a chickenhawk, what about others who have served and disagree with Murtha, are they also chickenhawks? Is anyone not against the Iraq war a chickenhawk is your eyes?

I referenced Murtha's entire experience since's he's come out against the war, not just one biased article. I thought that was pretty clear when I said

    "The whole Murtha situation."

btw nice try at straw-manning me into flaming another poster here. Are you trying to get me banned too?

Biased? It was by a wounded soldier who was actually in Iraq, I guess that doesn't mean sh!t because he disagrees with you.

I'll say this for Murtha - he got way ahead of the curve. His comments when he first came out against the war heralded a sea change that marks the boundaries of debate today. He took a chance, and we will see which way it works (for or against him) in November.

I don't think the troops' morale needs to be low, for us to want to bring them home. It's a mistake to characterize the troops' morale one way or another with no data backing up what you say.

Beyond that, we cannot make the mistake of thinking the troops' morale is the deciding factor in a war situation. Their morale is a necessary but not sufficient condition for the war to be successful.

In other words, if they say "let us finish the job," that's not the sole determinant of staying in-country or not.

Don't even talk to me about Moran, by the way ;)

Good to see the GOP wasting more money in this crucial election year.

The dumb bimbo can't even get her facts straight.

The 'chickenhawk' argument is pure BS. I served in the military so I feel free to comment. Beyond that elected reps (military experience or not' have a right to their opinion as much as anyone else (that is one of the reason that those of us witha military background served). I don't recall the chickenhawk argument being used by the Left when the draft dodger Clinton was sending troops into SOmolia or Bosnia or Haiti.

    Murtha is a scumbag.

    Absolut 100% fact.

Another lefty ignores his comrades comments about a soldier who disagrees with them.

I just published this comment* to a number of blogs dedicated to Murtha's speech in Miami.

I thought you may be interested in the subject matter.

Looking at the large number of blog posts I've placed throughout the blogsphere in the last 2 weeks, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking they look like spam.

    My apologies to all.

Some interesting things happened today. I received an email response from Bill Pasco(e) of Diana Irey's campaign against John Murtha for the 12th District of Pennsylvania seat in the House of Representatives.

In responding Mr. Pascoe's email, I found it useful to CC that response to him to Elizabeth Baier and her editor Ms. Rosenhause (Managing Editor Sun-Sentinel).

The topic of those emails was "Rovian Architecture Unplugged". If you are interested to learn more, feel free to write them.

Make "Rovian Architechure Unplugged" your subject heading so they know what your inquiry is about.

Since when does one's military experience qualify them as someone who can comment?? Feel free to comment all you want, however you hold no more water from your experience than anyone else. There are a lot of us who do not and never have believed in the Iraq war; it is based on false intelligence, lies and a hidden agenda. Don't come back with the liberation of 24 million people from a brutal dictator, that means jack ****.

Calling Clinton a draft dodger is ok, but don't forget your draft dodging heroes Cheney, Rove and the favorite son George Bush. When troops were sent to Somalia, Bosnia and Haiti here are some rather startling statistics:

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/org/news/2003/030402-iraq06.htm
There were no U.S. combat fatalities in Bosnia or Kosovo

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-04-20-cover-usat_x.htm
    CASUALTIES FROM OTHER U.S. OPERATIONS
    Action Years Combat deaths Wounded
    Grenada 1983 19 119
    Panama 1989 23 324
    Somalia 1992-94 43 153
    Haiti 1994-96 4 3
    Afghanistan 2002-03 76 192

By Julie Snider and Quin Tian, USA TODAY; Sources: Defense Department, Center for Defense Information, military historian Al Nofi.

To argue what Clinton does and compare it what has happened in Iraq, is very poor to say the least and nothing more than a rather trite right wing talking point. 47 deaths do not come close to the 2500+ that have occured in Iraq(btw some think it is much higher due to some very creative bookkeeping). Put the blame where it belongs squarely on the draft dodging and favorite son administration that we are forced to live with.
