ESPN - DVD from Vince Wilfork's wife Bianca saved New England Patriots defensive tackle from suspension

Let me ask a dumb question. If there was obviously doubt about whether Vince hit Cutler, and Cutler pats Wilfork on the helmet after the play, why the hell was he fined?

I don't know, but if he did admit to that Losman hit being a deliberate cheap shot then I feel like a sucker for defending him.

You actually believe what's being reported? It's contradictory.

Do you really think it went like this?

Vince: I admit to taking a cheap shot on Losman last year, but I swear, this year I didn't hit Cutler on purpose.

Goodell: Why should I believe you?

Ms. Vince: Here's the DVD proving it.

Goodell: You're right. You didn't elbow him to the head.

    Vince: You see, I'm innocent.

Goodell: Well, I have to fine you anyway. You understand.

    Vince: Huh?

If I'm not mistaken, the Cutler play was on top of two other unnecessary roughness penalties in the same quarter.

lol, i really doubt Vince would go in and state that bluntly....

if he in fact did, i would assume it was b/c he thought doing so would help him right now, in the present

Color me completely skeptical about the alleged details, they're contradictory and do not make sense together. Either one or more is wrong or some essential piece of information is missing.

Uhh...what a bunch of bull**** coverage from ESPN, and media leakage from that poor excuse for a commissioner. I mean, can anyone doubt that this media outlet has purposefully killed the Favre story while playing up every possible anti-Pats story on its front page by now? And how the hell is Mortensen privy to what happens inside the meetings? I believe what he is reporting, but why is it being leaked? Why has Goodell not called Favre into his office for a chat? Why isn't he being investigated round the clock?

One of which they later credited (?charged) to someone else.....
    From Reiss blog 10/30
    >>>The league recently reassigned one penalty from the Broncos game, changing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Vince Wilfork and assessing it to James Sanders after his interception.

Not true. The following is from the Reiss/Vega Boston Globe article. This is how Wilfork described the meeting:

Wilfork also detailed that his first fine last season - for a low hit on Bills quarterback J.P. Losman - was a big part of the meeting.

"That's something that really bothered me, because I think that's the one that led me to being looked at last year. That play right there really labeled me," Wilfork said. "They told me and showed me what they were thinking. They looked at how long the ball was out [of Losman's hands] and my elbow. I could understand that and I said, 'The last thing I want is for you to judge me as a dirty player. That's not me.' I think I got through to them, but at the same time, I understand what they're thinking about.

Saying that he can understand why someone would fine him is different than him saying he committed a "cheap shot."

A high school newspaper writer could see the difference. Chris Mortensen can't. Another football media titan showing how little you have to work to maintain your position in the business.

Actually, this makes sense. If you paid attention to the language used by the league office in reference to the fine, they never stated that the fine was for that particular hit, but rather for a pattern of behavior that often jeopardizes the safety of the rest of the players around him.
But I highly doubt Vince admitted that the Losman hit was a cheap shot, as he and Belichick have staunchly defended it since it happened.

You guys never quit.....Wilfork is a great player, and we love him, but some of you believe that a Patriots player cannot be wrong EVER.

Wilfork admitted what he did was dirty last year...he made a mistake....just freaking accept it.

You guys? You mean, real Patriot fans? And not fake ones?

Wilfork never "admitted he was dirty." Prove it.

    Else you're a liar.

I believe Reiss over you. Read the quote. Belichick and Wilfork said it was unintentional. Are you calling Reiss a liar?

In fact, there's a DVD out there that proves Wilfork didn't cheap shot Cutler.

    So shove it.

Yes, Wilfok has NEVER done anything dirty. All these reports are LIES  There is a difference between real fans and blind homers. Anyone who watched the Loseman play knows it was questionable at best. I guess the NFL and the refs have singled out Wilfork over the last few years, and they are out to screw him over, and set him up. Reading this board is comedic gold. Every other thread is about how we are wronged and how everyone is out to get us. Sad. This guy is an idiot, that writer is a LIER, oh brother!

Btw, I was referring to the Loseman fine not cutler.

What the hell is your point? Your sole purpose on this board seems to be to act like a *****. You can't spell, or think, or read, so why can you type? This is not about Wilfork being an angel, it is about the constant stream of lousy thinking, writing, and reporting about this team.

Why, oh why? Despite your own "questionable" fandom (haha), you have provided far more than Patslifer has. The dude is a one-trick-pony...no analysis, just spittle.

Everyone should go back and read Reiss. Read Vince's opinion. Moretespnsen was not there...he does have good connections (read: media whores), but he is also a blowhard. Moreover, his wording is clearly meant to sensationalize.

Again, where was any of this regarding Favre?

My point is that all you people do is cry about how we are wronged all day long. The NFL is out to get us, every writer in America hates us, life just isnt fair. If anyone thinks otherwise they are a troll or an idiot! As for my spelling, English is not my first language, and I would bet any sum of money you couldent write as well as I do in English, in Italian.

You are nothing more than a crybaby, who thinks the entire media hates us, and ignores the fact that when you are on top people want to to cut you down. Further more, some of these reports we are reading have some substance to them, and your refusal to admit that shows the level of homerism you suffer from.

How dare someone report that Wilfork admitted to a cheap shot!? Do you really think reese is going to Sh*t where he eats....Reese is going to spin things in our favor nine times out of ten.

You lost the second you attacked me.

No, it means that they are upset that you win all the time. All the greatest teams in history have had the media go after them after they get tired of watching them kick butt for years. The Yankees, the Cowboys the Steelers back in the day - etc. The whining and refusal to admit that any of our players or coaches could be wrong is laughable.

I can remember people get attacked if they thought that Wilforks conduct was out of line with the Losemen hit, and now reports surface that Wilfork admits the hit was cheap, and the homers come out claiming Mort is an idiot and lier. If Mort said something good about the pats the board would claim he was the greatest writer ever.
