I have always thought Patter to be "fair and balanced".

I thought he exercises good judgement and impartiality in his role as a moderator.

Generally, the sign of good moderation is if both sides b!tch about the same. The problem with using that as a guide is that our righties complain an awful lot about just about everything.

Notice how the 'reply to' page has more blue than red? and that the red that is there is even a bit blue? 10-1 says there's been complaints about the lack of impartiality of the color scheme:D

OK. I just looked it up. That's practically Canada. :D

Various parts of New England are on my list of places to visit at some point. We're aiming for the 2008 NFL season.

The guy is a certified crazy... and a luciferian.

unification church boils down to a global church that everyone can agree with. This steeps of new age. New age is NOT christian at all. It IS false. It IS BS... I call it how I see it.

Years ago when I heard Moon's comments on Korea being a peninsula and therefore penis-like in shape, which of course makes it more masculine than other nations and that's why Koreans are the most superior people...

Well, what can I say? That was more than enough for me.

I get jealous, my threads get closed if I do that, I love to do that, you should hear some of the things I would love to call Liberals (they destroyed the democrat party) but I get warnings and thread closings. :p

    Get this,
I can't use bad language like the American Kids all use because the Kids might see it

Not using bad language is like going back to those Horrible Fifties.

But I try to obey the rules this is a good forum, I am a Law & Order man, I would never call women the things that the "Rappers" do (see I didn't use bad language)

I will now use these words when I get mad
    Gosh
    Gee
    Heck
    Rectum
    Poo-Poo
    Darn
    Bowel Movement
    Cussed
    Intercourse
    Baloney
    Swell
Now the kids won't even know what I'm talking about. :rocker:

Harry, some obscene words do get through. However, you have to be a little creative and remember that the English language doesn't only consist of American English. ;)

no offense to the Mods on this forum, but i think they do a poor job. I think the best choice for a Mod would be one that does not post in the forum and has no interest in it. I would be happy to do it.

didn't Moon also spend 13 months in a Connecticut prison for tax evasion?

wasn't the Moonies skit in the original SNL of the 70s about their frightening cult tactics?

isn't Moon obessed with sexual organs?

didn't he offer this beauty in Buenos Aries in 1996 during the ceremony of the opening of one of his many newspapers?

"When you defecate, do you use a mask? This is no laughing matter, this is serious. When you were kids, did you ever taste the cooties from your nose? . . . Why didn’t you feel they were dirty? Because that’s a part of your body."

Before complaining about this sub-forum, how about getting the Religion sub-forum cleaned up? I've seen unmistakable spam and porn posted there that sat for days even after I personally reported it. btw, when I say spam I'm not talking about the occasional 'flooding' of the place by TGIACG for example. He's a nut, but he's our nut and we should look the other way. I'm referring to the one hit wonders with the $99 Ipods and the free Viagra pills.

Btw, just because FTW isn't posting so much, doesn't mean he's not having a look around. he may very well be here several times a day.

    Nose Picking:
Dr says, "picking your nose and eating it is good for you".
Picking your nose and eating it is one of the best ways to stay healthy, according to a top Austrian doctor.
Innshibruck-based lung specialist Prof Dr Friedbich Ballsdinger said people who pick their noses with their fingers were healthy, happier and probably better in tune with their bodies.
He says society should adopt a new approach to nose-picking and encourage children to take it up.
Dr Ballsdinger said: "With the finger you can get to places you just can't reach with a handkerchief, keeping your nose far cleaner.
"And eating the dry remains of what you pull out is a great way of strengthening the body's immune system.
"Medically it makes great sense and is a perfectly natural thing to do. In terms of the immune system the nose is a filter in which a great deal of bacteria are collected, and when this mixture arrives in the intestines it works just like a medicine. "If a person is home alone, there is nothing more refreshing than a good diarrhea induced bowel movement" says Dr Ballsinger.
"Modern medicine is constantly trying to do the same thing through far more complicated methods, people who pick their nose and eat it get a natural boost to their immune system for free."
He pointed out that children happily pick their noses, yet by the time they have become adults they have stopped under pressure from a society that has branded it disgusting and anti social.
He said: "I would recommend a new approach where children are encouraged to pick their nose. It is a completely natural response and medically a good idea as well."
And he pointed out that if anyone was really worried about what their neighbor was thinking, they could still enjoy picking their nose in private if they still wanted to get the benefits it offered.

I think it was fair to lock that thread but I am having a hard time figuring out how someone could get away with calling the Pope (the man about 1 billion people believe to be Christ's representative here on Earth) a Nazi.

I guess, on this board, some people are more equal than others.

No you don't have any problems understanding the difference between a public person such as the Pope, who was selected in part because of his ability/willingness to handle sometimes harsh criticism, and a private person who's in no way stepped up. I'm sure you're quite familiar with the differentiation our society makes towards celebrities, politicians, heads of industry, and religious figures and how it even extends to matters of slander/libel.

You're feigning ignorance here so you can get away with calling anyone any name your mood strikes you. Or should I say, trying to get away with calling anyone anything.

Yeah... sdaniels coming at us with a strawman arguement... never seen that before

Let's see... the post made that closed that thread said (direct quote):

"Since Moon is seen by Unification Church members as holy as most other Christians view Christ, please show a little bit of respect."

Catholics view the Pope as Christ's representative on Earth. And yet it's perfectly fine to call him a Nazi on this forum.

I guess some people are more equal than others.

is it not documented that this Pope was a Hitler Youth?

from my research, after 1939, it was not compulsory for German boys to join the Hitler Youth... Joe joined in '41...

An intelligent person would realize there are miles of difference between calling someone a "Nazi" versus having them serve as a member of the Hitler Youth, which was mandatory in Germany of the time.

I am not saying you're not an intelligent person, I'm just saying an intelligent person would know the difference.
Oh really...? And what "research" is that...? The PressCoverage "I make up whatever the heck I want to" research...?

I guess insulting one religion's revered leader is off limits (as it should be) but insulting a man 1 billion people believe is Christ's representative here on Earth is a perfectly acceptable practice.

ah, you've decided to take your hands off your ears, stop screaming down the street and man-up... excellent... i look forward to holding your intolerance and hypocritical instigation accountable from here forward... well, actually, i never stopped... but at least you'll see it now...

not really saying Ratzinger was ever sympathetic to the Nazi cause... anyhow, the man hasn't been entirely accurate in his recollection, nor did he do nearly as much as his predecessor, or many other European Christians, to resist... yet he was still chosen the best canditate to represent the faith...

    http://atheism.about.com/od/benedictxvi/i/RatzingerNazi_2.htm
Hitler Jugend: Joseph Ratzinger’s claims about the Hitler Youth are not true. Compulsory membership was first defined in 1936 and reinforced in 1939, not in 1941 as he says. Ratzinger also says that he was “still too young” at the time, but he was 14 in 1941 and not too young at all: between the ages of 10 and 14, membership in the Deutsche Jungvolk (a group for younger children) was mandatory. Yet there is no mention of Raztinger belonging. If he had managed to avoid the required membership in the Deutsche Jungvolk, why did he suddenly join the Hitler Youth in 1941?

    <snip> <admitted opinion piece follows>

It’s simply not true that resistance was impossible at the time. Difficult, yes; dangerous, yes. But not impossible. John Paul II participated in anti-Nazi theater performances in Poland, yet there is no evidence of Joseph Ratzinger even doing this much.

Ratzinger may have done more than many others to resist, but he also did far less that some. It’s certainly understandable that he wouldn’t have had the courage to do more and, were he any average person, that would be the end of the story. But he isn’t an average person, is he? He’s the pope, a person who is supposed to be the successor of Peter, head of the Christian Church, and symbol of unity for all Christendom.

You don’t have to be morally perfect to hold such a position, but it’s not unreasonable to expect such a person to have come to terms with their moral failings, even the moral failings that occurred in youth when we don’t usually expect a great deal. It was an understandable mistake or failing not to do more against the Nazis, but still a failing that he hasn’t come to terms with — it sounds rather like he is in denial. In a sense, he has yet to repent; yet he was still considered the best of all the candidates for the papacy.

    Pope's Nazi past
Benedict XVI former Hitler Youth member
    Keith Olbermann
    Anchor, 'Countdown'

    Updated: 5:46 p.m. ET April 20, 2005
As John Paul II's right hand man, in charge of enforcing the conservative papal policy, Cardinal Ratzinger earned an unfortunate nickname from his more progressive peers: the "Panzer Cardinal". Like the tank. Pope Benedict XVI, now 78, had his own brush with warfare as a young boy growing up in Nazi Germany.

At age, 14 membership in Germany's "Hitler Youth" became mandatory. So Joseph Ratzinger enrolled
He managed to get out early so he could study for the priesthood.
Two years later, when he was 16, Ratzinger was drafted again by the German Army.
Ratzinger worked as a helper in an anti-aircraft briagde.
In 1945, he was put through basic training and stationed near his hometown in Bavaria.
When Allied forces advanced, he deserted the German army — risking death by that act alone.
After he escaped, Ratzinger was captured by American soldiers and spent the remainder of the war in a POW camp.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann airs weeknights, 8 p.m. ET on MSNBC TV. E-mail Keith at KOlbermann@MSNBC.com.
