I am totally outraged...and I believe ge ghas FAR crossed the line...
EEI....D&C..They were talking about this guy who was charged with molestation as he was on the MBTA a day ago...Mr Callahan made a comment like..probably he was like Belichick and didn't know the rules... NOW..do you think that is VERY close to libelous?? OR just trash talk??

This type of stuff is more of the rule than the exception for D & C, right now Gerry is blinded and all caught up in his defense of Tomase and the Herald.. he is a freaking idiot pure and simple.. hope Boston Sports Media Watch caught it, this could be a big deal..

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

I'm not in NE and donn't follow all the Boston media.
Is this the guy interviewing Specter?

So I guess they'll kiss Specter's butt and tell him to go get the Cheaters
    with all your power?
I guess that's how it goes.

The local media everywhere else at least pulls for the home town team even while criticizing and taking jabs once in awhile.
But I don't think there's local media anywhere else nearly as outright brutally hostile toward the local team.
It seems almost every media guy there despises the Patriots and wants them destroyed.
    Am I wrong?

I'm actually finding Gerry's nervous breakdown pretty hilarious. Poor Gerry's got issues! Did you notice how he gets the Mazz squeak when he's mad?? :D
Jason Wolfe won't fire Callahan even thought he fired talk host John Depetro for calling a fat lesbien a "fat lesbien" on the air. Now if BB were black Callahan would be in trouble but BB is just a middle aged white guy so linking him to a molester is fair game.

I think your being a bit sensitive. He wasn't calling Belichick a molestor. He was just illustratiting that not knowing the rules isn't an excuse. Its not a big deal.

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

It's actually more complicated than that. These guys do a morning show, which I refer to as Third Reich Radio, that specializes in (what they think is) clever repartee demonizing whatever and whomever don't happen to agree with their political slant. That slant is consistent with that of the Boston Herald, for whom Callahan works. Thus, since Tomase and Tony Massarotti (sp.?) also work for the Herald and have been involved in anti-Patriots writing recently, these radio guys also like bashing the Patriots.

There is no one I'd rather see fall all the way down to homeless than Gerry Callahan. I don't care if his comments are an act, he still says the things he says and that tells me everything I need to know about his (lack of) character.

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

The hilarious thing about your point is that media types like Callahan believe it is ok for them to attempt to bring down an athlete or a coach. But now that the public is calling for Tomasse's head, he's all twisted in a knot.

    What goes around, comes around.

Guys like Massarotti often mock the general public as being uninformed. Isn't it effn' beautiful that it is now the public they have to beg for mercy...

If their inexcusable "metco gorillas" conversation doesn't get them fired, nothing will. D&C have said some pretty outrageous things already, this isn't even up there with the worst of them.

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

I don't think Dennis is to blame nearly as much as Callahan. Gerry from the reich is the source of 99% of the crap that spews from that show each morning.

Wouldn't it be great if we could get him fired?! hell, yeah it would!

Can someone tell me how a guy can act like a Redneck racist in Massachusetts and NOT get fired.

What will Gerry do if Obama wins!:D

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

My recollection is that Dennis was actually the main culprit in the Metco comments - though I agree in general, its more Callahan. I'm all for free speech, Callahan can go spew his intolerant crap on some political talk show or something, no one is going to pay it any mind either way, I just wish it weren't on my sports radio.

I never do...rating are based upon select households listening. They panel each of these household each month & ask them what they watch/listen to. We need those people to not listen to the show.

The last time I looked over the Massachusetts laws, it was still legal to be more conservative than Josef Stalin and make jokes. Even bad jokes were still legal. Those of you whining about "tolerance" all the time might want to remember that.

Of course it's legal. But we don't have to invite it onto our airwaves. D&C contribute nothing. They suck at sports [talk], they suck at politics [talk]. Their popularity is not indicative of quality.

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

Deus...being conservative is not synonimous with being racist or belittling those with different views. I guess you've never listened to this man. Because if you had, you'd know much of what he says is unacceptable.

Besides, we don't want him arrested, we just want him unemployed and homeless. He does have a right to speak his mind, but insults are not jokes.
So we have the right to do everything we can to get him fired. That is my intention...and that is my hope.

Your comment is your opinion, not fact. You are, of course, more than welcome to it. However, clearly Dennis and Callahan do not suck at generating an audience. Screaming at every little thing they do just because of political disagreements with them makes the complainers look like idiots. People who talk for a living are bound to make comments that rub some people the wrong way on occasion.

The irony is that the people who are railing against Dennis & Callahan starting threads are obviously listening to their show. If they are so offended by what they are hearing, people should just change the station instead of continuing to listen.

Hell, I turn them off when they start going on and on about golf (which I play...badly) or "24" (which I don't watch). If they're talking about something you don't like/agree with, change the channel.

Being conservative is not synonymous with being racist, yet you take a joke and make that leap? And, sometimes insults are jokes. In fact, they frequently are. Have you not had the experience of watching or listening to comedians in your lifetime?

For the record, I have listened to that show when I've gone to Massachusetts to visit my family. It's tamer than many shows along the east coast.

agreed. I think we, as fans, have become a little too testy. I am not saying we don't have valid reason for it, but come on... who cares what Callahan sayd, anyway? :)

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

You fail to catch the point of this entire thread. Callahan purposefully used a story about a "CHILD MOLESTER" and related it to Bill Belichik. I don't know about you, but if Belichik was my father, I'd be down at WEEI waiting outside for Callahan to come out.

it is not funny, amusing, relevant or a useful analogy. That is unacceptable. This is not my opinion, that is a fact. Use your head.

    BSR...that goes for you too.

No, it's your opinion, not a fact. Your likes and dislikes are not factual absolutes binding the nation any more than mine are, and thank goodness in both cases. Also, given the number of priest jokes made throughout the land after the pedophilia scandals, I'd say it's pretty clear that your opinion is a minority opinion.

As for the point of this entire thread, it's nothing more than "I don't like Dennis and Callahan, so I'm going to use a bad joke as an excuse to act morally indignant!".

Re: Mr Callahan...maybe THIS comment will lead to his downfall

Given the number of priest jokes...blah, blah, blah??? WTF? That is not even a direct response to my point Deus.

First of all, some priests were/are guilty of molesting. It was all over the news for years! So are you calling Belichik a priest? What has Belichik done to have his name referenced with a pedophile on public radio to hundreds of thousands of listeners? Do you have a clue?

OK Deus, so if I said "So I guess Deus' father (insert real name & address) was like that pedophile and couldn't figure right from wrong!" over a radio station with 100's of thousands of listeners, you'd be aw-ight with that?

Please answer that directly. Yes or no?

    Forget the long tangents please.

BTW...Dennis & Callahan act morally indignant everyday!
