Not Newt, not Sarah, not anyone who has ever been elected to an office or run and organization, someone who avoided the draft as he was a fortunate son and had a pylonidal cyst... someone who has life long addiction issues, three marriages, openly talks about his puussy on his show, and somehow had a bunch of viagra in his suitcase on a return trip from the islands... yes indeed it is Rush Limbaugh, by a wide margin... this is good, if not great news for the left.. I know he is only an entertainer, without regard this poll confirms the previous belief.. he is your leader, he is your spokesman...

A resounding cheer from the 28%'ers was heard when this news came out...

Forbes Magazine - The 25 Most Influential Liberals In The U.S. Media

This is not a list you would pin on your refrigerator.

    http://www.forbes.com/2009/01/22/influential-media-obama-oped-cx_tv_ee_hra_0122liberal.html

    15. Maureen Dowd
Op-ed columnist, The New York Times

Known for her exclamatory columns, Dowd writes about politics with a biting, pop-culture-infused spin. She is much better at meowing at her own side, though, so the Obama administration could see her recover the cat-wit she appeared to have lost in her formulaic Bush years.

    13. Bill Moyers
Host and commentator, Bill Moyers' Journal

Moyers, at 74, is the Ă©minence grise of the liberal media. A onetime press secretary for Lyndon Johnson, the stately PBS host is best known for in-depth interviews with intellectuals and politicians. In a culture of shouting matches, his soft-spoken style can appear exotic.

    12. Chris Matthews
    Anchor, Hardball

A reliable cheerleader for Obama ("I feel this thrill running up my leg"), MSNBC's Matthews will be the bedrock of a bank of television anchors on whom the new administration can rely for the best possible spin.

    7. Rachael Maddow
    Host, The Rachel Maddow Show

The presenter of her own MSNBC show, Maddow, a lesbian, has outpaced Keith Olbermann and other colleagues to attract a cultish following hooked on her blunt outsider's perspective.

    6. Oprah Winfrey
    Presenter, The Oprah Winfrey Show

Oprah makes this list because her status as an American cultural and racial icon gives her a uniquely influential position to mold political debate in the Obama era.

    5. Jon Stewart
    Host, The Daily Show

Politics has never been as entwined with popular culture as it is in the Age of Obama, and Stewart's acerbic, satirical take on the news is in perfect sync with these times--and with a youthful demographic that is enjoying its first real taste of political power.

    2. Arianna Huffington
    Founder and columnist,The Huffington Post

The leading curator of liberal commentary online, she is credited with helping put Barack Obama's bandwagon firmly on its way to Washington. She has an uncanny ability to marry attitude and authoritativeness.

    1. Paul Krugman
Op-ed columnist, The New York Times

The pre-eminent liberal commentator in the American media, his prose is as pungent as his academic credentials are impeccable. Last year's Nobel in economics was widely seen as a vindication of his politics.

If you read any of these characterizations do not see any mention of drug usage.. series of marriages.... have always admire Moyers,

I would pin it on my refrigerator, as there is no shame in any of them..

If you read slowly this is the 25 most influential in the MEDIA... not the party... see the difference, take a deep breath and step back from the edge..

Moyers is wicked smaht. His intervies with Joe Campbel are excellent. His hatred of Bush is refreshing (to me).

"The Power of Myth" is presently in my 11 year-old daughter's bedroom. It's the book we use to educate her on the tall tales she needs to know when the mythers are talking and referencing their stories in conversation.

That list is pretty funny. I checked out the top 25. The only name I recognized from 16 to 25 was Andrew Sullivan, LMFAO! Yea, that would be the person that most liberals would be influenced. Maureen Dowd, I like her columns due to her wit........where is Oberman?

The guy has been a national figure for about 20 years now and has had a tremendous impact on the national scene. The fact that liberals hate him so much only proves he is doing something right.

It is not about hate, it is about how much he is revered among the right...

A man who is often here described as an entertainer... not a politician.

A man who has serious addiction issues...

A person who has never been in an election....

A man who talks about his puuussy openly on the airwaves...

A man who is viewed as the most influential person in the party of family values, even thought he has been married three times

A man who is viewed as a hawk, however avoided the vietnam draft as he was a fortunate son and a pylonidal cyst

A man who was found with Viagra in his luggage after a trip to the Bahama's...

If the Democrats most influential person had half of this, Fox News would have a daily circle jerk and multiple orgasms daily... if he was the most influential person in my party I would be embarassed and find another party

And it is also about how much people like you hate him. So he must be doing something right. Keep it up!

Has nothing to do with hate..hate is a wasted emotion, and is becoming more and more the hallmark of the right... defend the head dittohed all you want, but his assumption to power is interesting..

For some unknown reason when confronted with facts the right, try to break down a discussion with either ad hominen attacks or try to break it down into very simple terms... i.e. hate Rush, guess that is the dittohead way..

It is a commentary on who the right views as the most influential in their party, during the last election he boldly claimed he would "anoint the next republican candidate", during the Sotomayer confirmation he stated, if she was confirmed it would mean the death of the Republican Party

This is the party who prides itself on family values and prides itself that its base are the moms and dads of the heartland..

interesting column from Charles Johnson this AM.. and why he abandoned the Republican Party..

+1. And that's why the libs hate him so much - as evidenced by the amount of threads and discussions they talk about him.

    I'm utterly ambivalent on Limbaugh.

I do think he has a deleterious effect on political discourse. And I do think his act is a shtick, and that he probably doesn't believe most of what he says. But he, like Beck (I would say Palin but it's clear she's just more of a delusional fantasist), recognizes there are many people out there who crawled out of the shallow end of the gene pool, and need to feed on this particular brand of ignorance.

And they are just smart enough to feed them what they want but not quite smart enough to realize that no matter how many dollars they make or how many people parrot them that the bottom line is - they still share the same shallow end of the pool.

It's pretty funny how you say you are ambivalent on Limbaugh and then go on to prove the exact opposite. To quote Oneigo Montoya: "I don't think that word means what you think it does."

Nothing I said disproves my ambivalence, and I know exactly what the word means.

Au contraire, he is talked about because the right views him as the most influential conservative... and that is hilarious, considering his very checkered past and the basic beliefs of the party of family values...

Personally if someone like Stephen Colbert, or Jon Stewart were viewed as the most influential person amongst liberals would become a conservative right now..

The right claims he is an entertainer, this poll flies in the face of that belief.. but the right is uncomfortable about obvious power that he has..

The right loves stories about "hollywood wife swappers", and the most influential person of the conservative party fits that genre well... it is about hypocrisy and duplicity pure and simple.
