Good news. I can imagine him with 6 though. Pointing to his chest after every TD catch. Oh well, rules are rules.
I like the idea of the pointing at the 6 after a touch down, but a WR wearing #6 is just to weird, IMO.
It's not weird. It's just not allowed by NFL rules.
(OK, it is weird.)
Where's THEARCHIVES ? Is #81 tight? I can't remember.
I looked to see if the pro shop had it listed yet and found this gem they are now selling.
Yeah, maybe thats why it seemed weird to me, because I haven't seen it before. I forgot that its not allowed.
id say its a tight #
I love the bits and pieces on all the personnel... with Geno having a down year in 05, and being injured so much, I totally did not remember he had played just about every game for three years (including 05). I had associated his "bad" year with his injured time, and in my mind sort of written him off and/or forgotten him. Well, especially with the situation we have now, it is good to have him back & healthy!
(Built in problem with linking to a Reises pieces column - sorry about the hijacked thread, all done now.)
ocho uno cant wait to see him and the rest tommorow
Yeah that's alright, I would rather have him switch with Watson and wear 84. But 81 works for me, it beats #6. As long as Moss stays healthy and scores Td's, that is all I care about.
Didn't they retire 81 in honor of Tony Simmons?
Awesome. I can look for him tomorrow with ease now.
Maybe 6 would have been easier.
What number was Tony Gaiter? God, we had some awful WR here. Ray Crittenden, Michael Timpson, yikes...
Yea, 81 isn't really a "thight" number, it's just "aight". I'd say 84, 82, 85, 83, 86, 88, and even 87 are all better numbers.
18 reversed i get.
But going back to the number 6 for a second it just came to me that he might have raised quite a few flags with that.
Taunting anyone? Pointing to his chest after every score? Seems like the switch came at a good time.
Yea, I know it's a reversal of his number in Oak, I just don't really think of it as a flashy number.
Nothing wrong with #81
For those of you who forgot, arguably the best TE in Patriots history wore #81 - Russ Francis
Francis will always be 81 to me but look at the list of scrubs at WR who have worn it since then and I have no problems with it.
They did, but they un-retired it when Bethel came.
If they didn't they should have. It's an outrage!
Terrell Owens begs to differ.
I'd argue that statement, was a huge Russ Francis fan (can still hear Howard Cosell calling him All-World), but Ben Coates has set a standard that will be tough to beat.
I agree with you and thought the same thing when I read that post.
not as TIGHT as 39 mind you, but pretty durn tight nonetheless...
...well...tighter than when Bethel had it...
Hart Lee Dykes says howdy
Want to know who else wears #81? Calvin Johnson.
Who else has worn humble #81?
Torry Holt, Tim Brown, Terrell Owens, etc.
I'll find more later but that's just off the top of my head.
So does Kevin Lee.
I remember when I thought Vincent Brisby was really good.
Being a Pats fan sucked then.
