Irsay gets feathers ruffled on Twitter | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com

Irsay responded that was untrue, said he hadn't interviewed Caserio and added: "That's the way people get false promo about being so coveted just because they don't interview somewhere; SHELL GAME..leave us out of that BS."

"Excuse me @JimIrsay. NFL told me your General Counsel Daniel Emerson emailed request for Nick Cesario (sic) on Tues before he opted to stay in NE", Schefter retorted.
    ------------------------------

So, it's clear that Irsay publicly claims that Caserio was the source of this report for self promo reasons.

Schefter sets him straight that the info came from the league offices.

    What a slimy worm.

More people than Caserio had access to that information as it had to come through BB/Kraft as well. Irsay shouldn't presume so much and concentrate on his own house first :).

The Irsay's are bums. He is just like his father. Told a city he would never leave. Signed contracts for goods and services. Packed up in the middle of the night and left. Bum. Always been and always will be. A lying bum. You can't take anything that comes out of his mouth seriously.

People from Indy will tell you that Jim Irsay is a kind, engaging, well-thought of man in the Indianapolis community.

I think he is a little lacking in PR skills though. The tweets, mis-timed public statements, etc. I just don't think he handles the spotlight well. Having his three children with him when he announced Polian's firing was a way of telling the media to hold the body punches.

As it relates to Caserio, I see no issue with him coming out and saying, "Of course I sought permission to speak with him. He's a well-respected executive in the NFL and hes been a key part of a winning organization for a number of years. I'm approaching the job we need to do here with a fresh perspective. At this time, Mr. Caserio felt that the timing was poor to take the next step. I wish him well.".

Hes is a classic ThanksDad. I just hope Jonathan has 90% of what Bob is as an owner.

It will be all the more sweeter if we can go into his home and win the superbowl. I bet he'd be puking at the awards presentation.

Mildly troubling that an NFL owner can't spell you're.

Either the Pats or the Ravens.

I can't imagine Jim being too happy at either.

True, but we want to be happy about it as well ;).
Maybe Nick Caserio could get a seat close to Irsay :bricks:

What a bum. I think the most telling part of the story is Irsay's final tweet, according to the article, where he basically blasts Schefter, saying the problem was he implied that Irsay wanted to hire Nick.

Irsay got completely outed. He implied there was no interest and that Caserio was self-promoting. His motives were clear -- he didn't like the suggestion that the Colts were shunned by a Patriot and so made up bull**** to pretend that's not what happened. He either has too much hubris or was too stupid to know that the NFL makes interview requests public. A few thoughts:

    1) Irsay's final comment is absurd. It's basically: "Ok, so we wanted to interview him. That doesn't mean we were interested in him." What a punk.

    2) The Colts have had a bit of a sweetheart relationship with the press. The local press is sycophantic, and the national media tends to leave them alone except for lots of love for Peyton. I think this year with the Luck discussion and the horrible record, they got a slightly rougher ride from the press than they are used to, and they are not entirely sure how to deal with it. The answer is that you don't publicly accuse guys like Schefter and Mort of going off without sources, even if that's not your intention. These guys run in packs, and have memories longer than elephants.

    3) In the end, the whole exchange proves exactly what was reported: The Caserio is either so happy in New England, or so uninterested in the Colts, that he didn't even interview.

    Take that Irsay.

Amen, the main reason i've hated the Indy Colts is because of what Irsay did to Ballmore. It wasn't right.

According to Ian, Nick C was asked for an interview but declined. No job was ever offered.

Still, Jim is still on drugs.

    It's even worse than that.

How'd you like to be Nick Caserio this morning having been called a "self-promoter" and incorrectly accused of leaking this to Schefter?"

I'd say BB should unleash to restrictions for one day and let Caserio whip Irsay's butt in the media.

That is slander by an NFL owner.

Irsay is just a rich alcoholic with nothing better to do with his time. Here's to the Colts going back to their days of being losers. This guy makes Stephen Ross and Dean Spanos look like HOF owners.

    Disable Jersey

Irsay looks like a fool, and Caserio never had to say a word. Seems like a perfect ending to me.

I liked how Caserio handled the situation, with a big F-U to Irsay.

Not sure about the F-U but Caserio did the right thing. He stayed loyal to his employer and didn't leave (at least publically) Irsay looking like he had egg on his face.
