    During the State of the Union speech Tuesday everning, president Obama made the comment;

"It’s time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts."

and then went on to propose a new mortage/re-finance gov't program as if it were "for the people". Don't be fooled, this iniative is actually "for the banks".

Why? Because the program will take mortgages that are not backed by the federal gov't and make them gov't backed mortgages thereby lessoning the risk on the books of our wonderful banking industry.

Once again, a fine example of gov't backing corp. America.

But, but, but.....Romney says banks are people - and they're scared, too.

If you take Obama's word literally..
He's saying we should take the Rules which are in place at the top, and apply them to the bottom.

So by that I expect everyone is going to be getting a TARP Bailout Mr. President? Perhaps some Subsides?

He thinks top to bottom... like any good establishment president would. Nothing new here, no change to see...

I found it pretty laughable that the guy who handed out bailouts, stood there and said no more bailouts, as if he's been some sort of champion against them.

    Change we can believe in.

BTW PR, it's only a bailout when it's for the things the other guy wants them for. Of course, when "our" guy ends up bailing out those very same things too, then banks are people. ;)

Cuz it's the only thing certain people in here know how to do.

Well, gee willickers, considering he assumed office when the economy was in free fall, he didn't have much of a choice, now did he?

Declaring that there would be no bailouts from this point onward is neither hypocritical nor laughable.

By all means, tell us what you would have done. Since TARP was begun prior to his inauguration, we'll assume you would have continued that program.

So, you wouldn't have made an attempt to save the US auto industry if you were in his situation?

But....Obama's proposal WILL bail out banks. For any loan being modified that is not currently gov't backed, it will become gov't backed/guaranteed.

So the banks will benefit greatly from this proposal. As a matter of fact, I'd bet the banks are supporting this 100%. It's really all about reducing risk on the books of our financial institutions.

We've been down this road 1,000 times in here. I'm not spending half of my day repeating what we've already repeated in at least ten other threads. All I'll say is for someone who's handed out bailouts to his cronies, to say "no more bailouts" like he's the champion of personal accountability, is typical of the standard politician.

Take a look at who donates, and then look to see who gets bailed out, or favorable deals. It's business as usual is all.
