Funny, I was thinking of starting a "where would the race be if Romney was the nominee" thread. I think he might be out front, people trust his opinion on economic matters. He also does well in debates, except for his awful attempts at humor. Oh well, maybe he'll get a shot in 4 years.

Well I voted for him so don't blame me :D Seriously, yeah, he was obviously the better choice. Obama is a weak candidate but McCain is making it easy for him.

A better choice for the Democrats. Romney is a total fraud. Ran as a liberal in Massachusetts, then ran as an arch-conservative in the rest of the nation. Obama would've beat him by 15 points and 450+ electoral votes.

Romney headlining a ticket, with Palin as VP, would have been a real ticket with some teeth. Romney appealing to moderates & independents with his executive experience, and percieved economic sense, with Palin energizing the base, that would otherwise never show up for a Mormon candidate. Also, Palin's pro-life, pro-gun stance would diminish any concerns non-mormon fearing base conservatives might have regarding the Varmint hunter. It would have been interesting. Clearly, Romney is a more prepared person to be CIC than McCain has presented himself to be. IMO anyway. The problem for McCain is that picking Romney would not have energized base republicans, as Palin has. People in here still ignore the "balancing" that Palin does for McCain. Her job is to attack, and to get the base fired up. McCain simply doesn't do either.

If Romney was a Muslim instead of a Morman he would be the next President.

I happen to like Romney ... but like Seymour said above he's all over the place. He's better suited to being governor, Congress or Senate IMO. Being intelligent and good looking is simply not enough ... look at John McCain :p.
