Just wanted to give props to Mike Reiss for being one of the FEW journalists out there who works hard to get his facts right, maintains the integrity in his work, and always come out with excellent pieces. SO glad he is covering the Patriots! Great job Mike, and keep up the excellent work. Hope you continue to be rewarded, and it's good to see you gaining recognition through your hard work (unlike he who will not be named). :)

I have always thought he was the best in Boston..hands down with Curran going national... I liked Curran's approach..an old time sports writer..Reiss gets the facts, gets them correct (when he doesn't he corrects them...something so few journalists do..) When I want Pats news, his blog id the first I look at.. forget the radio..TV..He rocks!!!

It's too bad Reiss (or anyone for that matter) couldn't dig even deeper and find out the actual timeframe involved in the implementation of the videotaping policy being referenced in spygate.

You should send these sentiments to his boss (if you haven't already). Complaining about the bad apples does nothing. Any publicity is good publicity. Flooding the Globe with praise for Reiss will get him promoted and (by definition) leave the others in his dust.

I have been going back and forth with today, thanking him for the article and *****ing about ESPN. He's actually been responding to me. How cool is that?

Reiss: putting the 'journalism' back in sports journalism. Much respect.

BTW, how would one go about praising Reiss to his higher-ups? I am definitely on board with this.

If you are talking to him again ask him to dig a little deeper and find out the actual timeframe involved in the implementation of the videotaping policy being referenced in spygate.

There is a huge story there just waiting to be unleashed for the hungry writer.

I wouldn't say we're at the level where I can suggest stories to him, but I'll give it a shot. :D

I believe I heard Fred & Steve say on eei today that the rule has been out there for several years. I think they alluded it was already a rule when BB took over.

Mike Reiss is an intelligent, knowledgeable reporter that writes his articles without bias and without agenda. And whenever he speaks an opinion (such as on Sports Final or in a chatroom transcript), he gives level headed, fair-minded opinions. He does not give outrageous opinions for the sole purpose of drawing attention to himself. He is not a sarcastic or snide writer.

The only question remains... WTF is he doing in the Boston media..?!? :D

Please don't put the man on a pedastal. It's not like he's someone really important. He's just a writer. I just responded to you too...how cool is that?

Seriously, he's done a great job standing above the rumors and all, but don't be overly impressed, he's just another guy like you & I.

    Kudos for Mike.

He never makes the story about him. He doesn't inject any self-satisfying blather and smarminess into every piece like soooo soooomany Boston journalists.

When I used to email him back in his days before the Globe, I would always hear back from him. He'd probably still reply even though he's a lot busier, probably.

A guy who loves his job and it shows. Here's to more like him!

He's a very fair journalist with no ax to grind and no agenda.

Well no one can accuse him of being a homer. He picked against the Pats quite a few times last season. At least in the first half of the season.

Mike is the best no doubt.

And don't think for a minute that BB didn't specifically chose him to make his comments thru.

Exactly. The Pats are the smartest in the business. I love how they run things and it was great to see Reiss break that story.
