I agree but politics is no personal and nasty in our current times. Geoege Bush shows up at Texas events and I think that's it.

Too bad as she and Mrs. Biden were there promoting an effort focusing on helping military families.. from what I read when she met with the drivers they applauded her.

That and we, as a society, have lost any sense of decorum. It's pretty disappointing to hear this.

    Welcome To The New America.

I wonder what kind of reception Laura Bush would recieve at The Oscars.

I would agree with this. Obama and Biden are both tools and totally unfit for office. However, their wives are, and should be, apolitical and focused on "good works programs" like this one actually was. It would have been proper to give polite applause (even if you don't mean it) and then move on.

This is just a symbol of the times though. It's a poisonous atmosphere out there politically and you can see examples of this type of stuff on both sides fairly regularly. It's pretty sad actually.

Just drive down any highway in Massachusetts and you'll get a glimpes. People actually believe driving is the best time to make a phone call!

You'll see people trying to text while driving and if you beep, they'll look at you as if YOU are the one doing something wrong.

I'd like to see a law passed that makes talking on the phone (even "hands-off") while moving illegal in all states. It could easily be implemented and it should be. There is no reason people can't stop their car to make a call.

    24/7 communication isn't a necessary function.

I'd never boo a first lady, at least I don't think I would, so in that sense this is definately disappointing. I will say though that it's not entirely surprising considering the circumstances, or the times. You have a country that's in economic turmoil, suffering massive debt and unemployment, with a president who is grossly unpopular to large segments of the public, especially those in Nascar country. I'm not sure who thought it would be a good idea to send Obama and Biden to a Nascar event in republican country, and introduce them at the point where the crowd is as liquored up, and as fired up, as can be. Not a good idea imo.

Good point...maybe someone thought Obama could make some headway into the "Nascar crowd". But common sense should have told them it would be best to stay away.

Hey, I have an idea, let's send Rick Perry's wife to the next Acorn convention!

We should also ban radios and makeup too! Since both are distractions too! Right? How bout books and billboard signs? Point is a lot of things are distractions, you can't ban everything......it comes down to choice!

Should you text and drive? No
Should you talk on the phone and dirve? No
Should you have the right to? Yes
Should you have a choice? Yes

Let's ban everything and make everything illegal so we can all be safe and happy!:bricks:

Many in the NASCAR crowd are the people who Obama derisively described as clinging to guns and religion. Perhaps they remember the contempt in which the Obama's view them.

You're wrong since many states have made it illegal to use a cell phone while driving. Since we know it's stupid to talk/text while driving, why allow people the right to endanger or disrupt others?

So you support the "right to be stupid"?

What a hacktacular comment. Suffice it to say I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Obama made the comment and the people he was referring to was a bog part of the NASCAR crowd. Love your being in denial however.

I'm simply pointing out that your partisanship really knows no bounds, there is apparently no depth to which you will not sink to apologize for your side.

Putting aside the question of whether or not it's appropriate to boo the POTUS, you be sure to let me know the exact moment Barack and Michelle transcend the laws of physics and merge to become one. Until that time, your pathetic attempt at excusing this has no basis whatsoever.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. PF13 often chastises me based upon things MrP has said.

That's just it. While they might be married, she isn't him, and shouldn't be boed for anything he does or represents. That being said, she did once say this.

Michelle Obama hasn't ever been proud of the U.S. until now - YouTube

Which I think rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Personally I still wouldn't boo her (or any first lady), out of respect for the title.
