Anyone seen this idiot on NFLN and his prognostication that this is the toughest schedule he has seen in a long time for any team and he GUARANTEES they will not duplicate 14-2 and kind of hinted the Jets will win the division.

The only thing I agree with is the Pats will likely not win 14 games again but I think the schedule from 2008 looked tougher than this one and we went 11-5 with a Bradyless team that year.

We had a good young team last year and we caught a few breaks along the way. I don't see why essentially the same team with another year of experience along with the possibility of some great prospects can't duplicate 14-2.

Ya, but they weren't guaranteeing that we wouldn't duplicate 10-6.

    Tbh, I don't think we'll go 14-2.....but I don't see why we can't.

I heard this clown. His diatribe started with "They play the Dolphins in week 1 who ALWAYS play them tough". Check last year's two scores...

He went on to talk about how the Buffalo games will not be easy simply because they are division games. Yup, 34-3 at their place last year. Not easy...

Then he just started circling teams who have "great defenses who will hit you". Like, you know, the Cowboys. Even Marshall Faulk had to laugh at this.

Then there was this beauty: "The Chargers have had a LOT of success in New England." Really? The chargers won at Gillette in 2005...Other than that, not so much success...

Now he could have made some congent points like playing at Philly, an unfamiliar foe, on a short week. Or a game in Oakland being the 2nd of back to back road games. Maybe that the Pats tend to struggle in Denver...or that Brady has never won in Washington (all 1 time he has played there). Any of those would be excusable in my book. But he'd rather yell and scream about things he THINKS are true.

NFL-N is a wonderful channel but people like Irvin (and Faulk) make it really difficult to watch as much as I'd like.

Not that we cant but I think the Bills will end that losing streak against this season in one of our match ups ,they improved at the end of 2010 and could beat us this year...that streak will end sometime,it has to and the division will likely be tougher overall.

12-4 as an early stab in the dark seems more than respectable.

Michael Irvin has been on NFLN a lot lately and one thing is for sure - He is smoking a lot of crack. Crazy nonsensical fits of rage, screaming and jibberish. He really shouldn't smoke so much crack, at least not when he is on TV.

Im a Jets fan but the Patriots schedule isnt hard at all. The AFC West is a joke. All the AFC West teams had padded stats and wins because they played the NFC West last year and it showed in the playoffs when the Chiefs got demolished.

The Bills are still in the middle of nowhere and the Dolphins look like a lost cause. On top of that the NFC east isn't exactly the most scariest division.

I dont see the Patriots going 14-2 but I see them winning 10-12 games more than likely.

seriously though, Irvin has a lot of respect for BB and he will be the first one on the bandwagon when it leaves the station.

Looks like a good schedule to me. I see 11-5, but no reason the can't go 14-2 again. Micheal is just pandering to the base, drumming up conflicts for the rating folks.

Gonna be a GREAT season again! GO PATS!

Theatrics made for television? I don't care how good a team may be or what they did they year before; I'll take the under betting on a team going 14-2 every time. In other words ... so what, big deal. He's being all loud to draw attention to himself and create a debate, but to declare a team is most likely not going to go 14-2 back-to-back is practically stating the obvious. Of course it has been done as we are well aware, but it's extremely rare.

Besides, at this point I think most of us are more interested in a 1-0 February than X number of regular season wins.

Why they let the Screaming Clown out of his cage for television appearances is beyond me.

That means you agree with Screaming Clown. I say 15-1.

If Michael Irvin never spoke again, the world would be a better place.

While on the topic of NFLN and idiots, I laughed when Marshall Faulk predicted the Rams to make the playoffs next season and Steve Mariuci selected the 49ers. Homers?

I love the optimism but I'm thinking more of a 12-4 to 13-3 season....I'm leaning towards the latter of the two.

    16-0 is always a possibility though :D

If you want to go through the schedule and figure what games the Pats would at this very early point in time be favored to win and which ones they would be underdogs - an admittedly very basic logic - then from what I see the prediction would be 13-3. Right now I'd say the Pats would be favored to win all their games except for the three in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

(For those excused due to living outside the states or others here that flunked geography, that would be road games against the Jets, Steelers and Eagles.)

That's weird. This is the first time in awhile that I've thought the schedule was not brutal (besides '08.)

The only tough quarterback we're facing on the road all season- and surely this could change in the next four months- is Roethlisberger. And frankly, we've owned that team at Heinz Field. Possibly Vick, although I'm guessing he falls down about five pegs next year.

From perception at the time, last year's schedule was much, much tougher than this year's schedule. We thought the Dolphins would be a .500 team and beat us in Miami as usual. We thought Minnesota would win 12 games; we thought we would have to face Aaron Rodgers; we thought Baltimore would be another beatdown at home; we thought Cincy would be defending their division title; and we thought going to Chicago late in the year would put us at a disadvantage; oh, and we also thought this was finally the time Pittsburgh would quench their vengeful thirst for blood.

The schedule doesn't look anywhere near as tough as 2010. Couple that with the projected improvement in the side and well... you have what we call a bingo!

I don't think the schedule is as tough as being made out but it won't be a walk in the park either.
