    Breaking News!

Anonymous donor to match all cash donations received
    until December 31, 2008
NASHUA, N.H., November 12, 2008 – With Thanksgiving and the holiday season around the corner and the resources of the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, Inc. (NSKS) straining, an anonymous donor has offered a dramatic challenge to help people in the Nashua community. The donor has pledged to match all cash contributions made to NSKS between today and the end of the year up to a maximum of $500,000.

“This incredibly generous offer could not have come at a better time,” said Lisa Christie, Executive Director of the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, Inc. “Everyone feels the problems in the economy from higher food prices to increased costs for gasoline and heating oil, but the families who come to the Soup Kitchen and use our other support services were struggling before the economy weakened and they are even more hard pressed now. This grant is simply a life-saver as we enter what clearly will be a difficult winter for many people in our community.”

Christie continued, “We are, of course, grateful for this tremendous offer of support. As an organization, we also are determined to make the most of this contribution-matching challenge so that we maximize the funds we have available to carry out our work.”

All contributions to NSKS, including those made during this challenge grant period, are tax deductible. We are so excited about this challenge! Please help us reach this goal! Please mail contributions to: NSKS, PO Box 3116, Nashua, NH 03061-3116 Thank you!

Shaw's and Star Market grocery stores have an easy way for us to earn money. For every $5,000.00 in grocery receipts we collect, we will receive a check from Shaw's for 1% = $50.00. If you shop at Shaw's or Star Market, instead of recycling your receipt in the trash, please send them to us. You can drop them off in the kitchen or send them to our PO Box 3116. Thank you! Any questions, please call Carol at 889-7770, ext 21.

We are struggling with empty shelves in our food pantry. Please click on our "Wishlist" page to see how you can help.
