I agree with you on this one. It's crap like this that damages their already weak reputation.
I'm no fan of Congress, nor it's members, but a 2.5% annual increase isn't exactly a WTF kind of raise.
when you calculate how much they actually work, its something silly...its like a month.
Honestly SCREW these people, they need a living wage increase? It should be illegal for them to vote themselves a raise when we have so many other issues to solve first.
And they finally raised the minimum wage this year, but those people never got an increase of even 2% for a bunchg of years......these politicians SUCK! WTF difference does it make to someone making 200,000 if they now make 204,000?
come november.....VOTE OUT THE INCUMBANT!
BUT RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE after 10 years is!
Again, I am not a fan of Congress but I think if you looked at all the things they have to do as Congressmen you'd find they work plenty of hours.
I just shake my head that I'm defending Congressmen
That's a little different issue as, conceptually, people should be trying to move up from those jobs as opposed to making a career out of it - but it's similar to outsourcing in that it's not that simple. A minimum wage increase is an inflationary move on everything as it pushes all wages up; I understand that's a good thing for some but it also raises prices as stores which can hurt the poor as much as it helps.
Maybe they looked at their abysmal approval ratings and said "F*ck it, they ain't getting any lower no matter what we do, might as well give ourselves a raise."
I'd double their pay if they'd agree to stay in session for 4 weeks or less per year. Less opportunity to screw things up.
yes, let's let the King make all the decisions, unhindered, right righty?
