On the NFL page, it has Mel Kiper re-grading the 2010 draft. I know most don't think much of Kiper but I'd still like to see what he thinks of our draft now and where it ranks among the rest of the league.

No that's a re-draft of 2005. In the one I'm referring to, it shows his post-draft grade for this past draft and he updates it based upon production this season.

Re: Does anyone have ESPN Insider?

Ah, Sorry about that. That's what I get for not reading closely. Here's what Mel says about the Patriots:

"Summary: It's one thing for so many picks to see the field, it's another when so many are immediate starters. So while there were a few value question marks, the Patriots were brilliant in terms of identifying fits. And it's not like Bill Belichick and the New England brain trust forced guys into action in an attempt to dignify their choices. No, these guys played early and played well, and the team was noticeably better because of it. Devin McCourty landed in the Pro Bowl. Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez were good enough that they seem to have shifted the whole offensive methodology, with more tight end sets than ever. Brandon Spikes and Jermaine Cunningham played a ton. Brandon Deaderick, the 247th pick, was called into duty and showed toughness. Even punter Zoltan Mesko was solid. Good picks all over, and the Patriots will have many more in April.

Draft Grade: B-minus Current Grade: A-plus"

We had the biggest improvement of any team in our grade BTW.

Yeah I got 4 years of the magazine for like $8 and have had insider for all 4 years for free. Would never pay for it. I actually haven't read the magazine for three years lol.

this, I don't think anybody actually pays for insider but rather receives it with the subscription.

You are so right. I actually tried to join once but they rejected me because I was too old!!! Was 70 at the time. Anyway, my feeling is (and was then) that if they want to discriminate against me, then I can discriminate against them as well.

I'm no big fan of Kiper, but I have to respect anyone who will come out and admit that he was wrong and say it so clearly, taking the Pats' grade from B- to A+.

Re: Does anyone have ESPN Insider?

I agree with that and don't pay for it. Kiper's take on the draft is one of the few things that would make it worthwhile, but I still won't pay the haters for anything. I'm even reluctant to click on the web page because I know it helps their advertising revenue.

Re: Does anyone have ESPN Insider?

Why on earth did he give the Patriots a B- initially? That's crazy. I was jumping through the roof by the time the Patriots had McCourty and Gronk. I thought it was an A+ draft at the time but now I think it was A- or B+ depending on how Cunningham and Spikes work out.

Re: Does anyone have ESPN Insider?

What? How can you think you was an A+ after only McCourty and Gronk were drafted, but now think the grade would go down? That makes NO sense at all.

You claim that with just McCourty and Gronk you gave an A+, so in order for it to make sense that you give a lower grade, you must not have been satisfied with McCourty and Gronk, which would be retarded.

I had the draft as an A at the time and A+ now.

Re: Does anyone have ESPN Insider?

I went the other way. I paid for insider and got free subscription.

I signed up for insider in '00 or '01, and used it to send me text alerts for red sox games. It didn't take too long for that to be useless, but it didn't cost much and it was difficult to cancel (they made it a real PITA) so I just kept it and read the articles. Eventually I quit reading the articles, but as I said - PITA to cancel. Then one day my credit card number changed, and the problem of insider just worked itself out.

Re: Does anyone have ESPN Insider?

Hey cool off. Read what I said; after McCourty and Gronk were drafted I thought it was going to be an A+ draft (I assumed that the rest of the second round would be as dramatic). After the season I am not as keen on Cunningham and Spikes so I view the draft as A- or B+.

Apparently some sensitive types are offended by the A- or B+.

Calling me retarded is offensive and rude. This is freaking football forum not the United Nations; you are taking this whole subject way too seriously. Flame off.
