To me gang members = mafia/mob members.

Do you get concerned or sad when you hear of a mob hit on another mob member?

not one story on goolge news
one story on yahoo news....about americans still wanting their guns

the story is pretty much dead in most places.....sure you'll get an occaisional article, but a college student getting stalking orders against her parents is bigger news on yahoo

sandy hook was more shocking than the colorado movie shooting, but given that lanza is dead, we can't even have a trial to talk about.

unfortunately, this story has virtually completed its cycle

still don't see a point....unless you're trying to make a list of peole who will likely NOT be turning in their weapons when a new law is written

I see where you tried to go but the "true number "people" killed in Chicago" was just worded in a way that theres a difference people killed. I know you meant, in your opinion, the "quality" of the people meaning non-mob members.

Believe it or not that is a good year, comparatively speaking.. compared to the 90's, 500 homicides is about average.. slightly higher than last year.

This is another argument to get more guns off of the street.. interesting how this post politicizes death and is an effort to desenstize people that this is acceptable...

Do you have anything to say in response to Mrs. completely violating your dumb thread premise one post above yours? Or will you be shying away from being held accountable again for your latest faux-outrage falsehood?

LOL... well, besides the fact that Mrs. showed you it isn't fading at all. ... How long SHOULD it be 24/7 in order to satisfy people like you? What more needs to be said? Gun nuts are still gonna nut on with irrelevant nonsense and miss the point entirely.

Don't underestimate the power of a bunch of ticked-off people.

All it took was a group of determined mothers to get the laws regarding the legal drinking age changed to 21 and to reduce the legal limit for blood alcohol from BAC .10 to BAC .08.

I don't know, it seems like every other article I read about gang shootings it is a little kid or a pregnant woman getting shot. I still think the best way to get rid of gangs is to arrest them all, teach them how to aim down the sights and then release them.

    Yeah, you keep dreaming:

According to a new USA Today/Gallup poll, a majority of Americans still oppose reinstating the federal assault weapons ban.

Voters are still skeptical of reinstating the federal assault weapons ban, however. The poll finds that only 44 percent favor the law, while 51 percent oppose it; those numbers are nearly unchanged from last year, when 43 percent supported the law and 53 percet opposed it.

The poll suggests one other challenge to reinstating the assault weapons ban: the enduring popularity of the National Rifle Association. Despite CEO Wayne LaPierre’s widely panned response to the Newtown shooting, 54 percent of voters still have a favorable opinion of the NRA, compared to just 38 percent who view it unfavorably.

To think that Chicago has the harshest gun controls in the country too. So harsh, that the SCOTUS ruled it unconsitutional in 2010. Since, their attempt to institute legislation that more or less continued the ban, has been overruled by a federal court. When people point to gun control as the saving grace, I like to point to Chicago. It's not to say that gun regs shouldn't exist. I absolutely think they should. It's to point out that banning legal, law abiding carry, doesn't work.

People oft forget that the NRA is a 501c3 organization, whose primary focus is to insure that the gun manufacturers make a lot of money and have a lot of markets..

Just in case you are wondering what a 501c3 organization is,

    Exemption requirements: 501(c)(3) organizations

How does this reconcile with this..

A Brief History Of The NRA

    http://d3gcj4nzojrapq.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/NRA-salaries.pdf

And to further this goal you members paid Wayne LaPierre 970K.. there are others who do well in this "charitable organization"..

•$1,079,185 Kayne B. Robinson, executive director, general operations
•$666,128 Chris W. Cox, exec director, ILA
•$649,545 Wilson H. Phillips Jr., treasurer
•$502,296 Tyler Schropp, executive director, advancement
•$462,362 Edward J. Land Jr., secretary
    •$396,860 Michael Marcellin, managing director
•$396,739 Joseph Graham, director of publications
•$363,997 Mary Corrigan, chief of staff
    •$298,832 Robert Marcario, director, membership
