Per Denver official Twitter, Josh is a goner.
Oh well...good luck on the lecture circuit.
Not surprised! His team has played like crap.
I guess that:
Trading the 2010 1st to get Alphonso Smith
Pick Demaryious Thomas ahead of Dez Bryant
Picking Robert Ayers and using him wrong
Taking Knowshon Moreno at 12
and trading Peyton Hillis and a draft pick for Brady Quinn.
All were contributing reasons?
Man, he screwed a lot up in 18 months.
The Cutler and Marshall moves were smart.
Thomas has looked good, and many teams passed on Bryant.
It's way too early to evaluate Tebow.
Hillis has a fumble problem which scares most coaches.
Ayers was always expected to be a problem.
If McDaniels was fired, and it was for the above reasons, Bowlen needs to get out of the sport.
Firing a coach after less than 2 seasons is almost always a mistake.
Josh mcadaniels fired
On from schefter
I never want to see anyone lose their job, however I can't say that's I'm surprised. He seemed way over his head.
If Bowlen fired McDaniels for personnel decisions I think it was a bad move. He needs to support a young coach with a strong front office. Giving McDaniels the reigns on the entire organization was a bad move on Bowlen's part. (I have no idea if this is the case, but I'm assuming it is because everyone seems to be pointing the finger at Josh for these susceptible personnel decisions).
Denver is a mess, I guess they felt they needed to make a change. I figured they would wait until the end of the year.
Bowlen will now be paying 3 head coaches next year. Perhaps he should relieve himself from ownership as well.
4th for Maroney too. Not sure how the Cutler trade was smart, they got Alphonso smith and Moreno with those picks.
Sucks. I knew this was coming but I thought they would at least wait for the season to be over
And just a tad arrogant for his own good too.
Should have known he'd never keep his job after the 49ers taping thing broke. Bowlen likes to see himself and that organization as being as clean as they come.
I give even odds he'll be back in New England in the not too distant future. . . .
He really does seem to be following the BB plan (make all the mistakes the first time around; now he should enter the penance phase. . . .).
You're kidding, right?
YouTube - Josh McDaniels: Fist-Pumping Moron
He lost me here
Plus he gave up a #4 to BB for L.M. too.
Pot, meet kettle.
I wouldn't lump Moreno in that group. He has been on a bit of a tear lately and far from a problem for them.
The whole Scarnecchia thing didn't help.
So Denver's going to pay three coaches next year.

you are correct
mcdaniels was fired because he's an *******, plain and simple
In memory of Josh McDaniels' coaching career
Salary cap issues aside......
Ummm. I remind you that even Ratgini still has a coaching job, so let's not hold the funeral just yet.
Even though he is fired, he made $8 million dollars for 2 years worth of work. Dammmnn, I'd be ok doing that and be ok getting fired. Now he can sit back and play offensive coordinator on xbox 360 or come back to the Pats - either way he is sitting pretty.
Damn. I was so hoping that Mangini would get fired before Josh.
too bad. i liked josh and wish he did well. the taping thing gave a way out for bowlen.
Bowlen used to have a reputation for being patient and determined to promote young talent. I think he has an ego, and I think Josh bruised it and made him look stupid over spygate II. Just as I think Shanny finally lost his job because his increasingly unmitigated ego was damaging Denver's image and ergo Bowlen's ego. I think the way the team has played this season was survivable but not in the wake of the scandal. This will also allow Bowlen to claim cause in firing Josh and get out from under his remaining salary. He's still paying Shanny even as Shanny coaches (and makes huge personnel decisions poorly) in DC.
Josh will resurface as either an OC who can develop QB talent or a college HC. Maybe he and Mangini will reconnect if Holmgren pulls the trigger in Cleveland to land someone from his own tree. I don't think BB would bring him back here at this time considering the circumstances as well. Although I could see a return sometime down the road.
I'll take Josh McD and Randy Moss back for 2011 thank you.
I really liked Mcdaniels when he was calling the plays here.I still have to see more with O'Brien.
