McCain Feeling Primary Heat From His Right Flank - WSJ.com

McCain Feeling Primary Heat From His Right Flank

Arizona Sen. John McCain, the Republicans' standard-bearer in 2008, is facing a surprisingly strong primary challenge from the right, evidence that even party leaders aren't safe from the swell of conservative activism heading into the 2010 midterm elections.

Mr. McCain hasn't faced a serious challenge since joining the U.S. Senate in 1987. But seven months ahead of the primary, he is using tough-guy tactics and calling in conservative chits to fend off J.D. Hayworth, an ex-congressman and radio host. Mr. Hayworth, who lost his House seat in 2006 and who is best known in Arizona for his opposition to illegal immigration, has seized the Tea Party mantel of low taxes and small government.

McCain & Bush both lost me when they sided with the democrats in their support of the Invasion by illegal aliens.

I held my nose real tight when I voted for McCain if he ran again I wouldn't even vote.

Unfortunately, McCain has been in washington so long he's listened to all the people telling him he has to go to the middle. He's basically a rhino at this point. It's good for him to get challenged, and I hope he loses.

When Republicans are claiming that McCain is too liberal to be a Republican, then you know without a doubt that the base (and, by extension, the party) is completely and utterly bat**** insane.

And people expect Obama to work with these folks? Yeah, good luck with that.

One of Jackie Onassis favorite sayings was "there's them and there's us"

McCain wants to diddle around with these "bully left wingers" in Congress then he does so at his own peril.

I don't know how many have noticed it yet but Bill O'Reilly is doing the same thing, he's trying to play the middle of the road, he'll stumble and the Liberal Media will eat him alive, they are a bunch of cruel vicious bastards.

    McCain over there>>>>>>>>>>>>>>:bricks:

Thanks for proving my point, fellas.

Just curious, but on what rationale do you support Scott Brown, but call for McCain's defeat?

I too hope Hayworth replaces McCain. Hayworth is a good choice, a true conservative.

When Scott Brown starts acting like McCain I'll dump him too, we'll see, anything was better than that Coakley women.

It wasn't support for Brown that got him elected it was disgust for, Obama/Pelosi Gang/Coakley

It was disgust, but not in the sense of the word that you intend.

And Brown is much more liberal than McCain.

McCain is in trouble for one stance and that is his call for amnesty, especially being from Arizona. Now with the Obama economy in full swing and unemployment shooting towards 15% calls for amnesty are akin to kicking someone in the nuts.

McCain is a good man, an American hero, whose service and heroism can not and should not be discarded. HOWEVER, he was the very worst candidate to put up against Obama, and in a state that is getting over run by Mexican criminals, calling for amnesty is an epically bad idea.

This GOP Senate primary will be about one thing and one thing only, illegal Immigration. And in that area, McCain loses.

I'm just asking; to the best of my knowledge, it is illegal, but it is not a criminal act.

Let’s face it. It's a bad time to be an incumbent if your term is up.

It's a CRIME to enter the country Illegally
    (Crime=Criminal)

When you enter illegally you are breaking an American Law, when you break a law you are commiting a crime.
