Looks like the McCain people got to this video. It's "no longer available".

Washington's & Lincoln's birthday are now considered Presidents day.

MLK is the only individual (other than Jesus) to have holiday ??

That makes as much sense as the Red Sox retiring Jackie Robinson's number 42.

Many people at the time opposed it, then changed their minds later, didn't the whole state of New Hampshire do the same thing.

Why is MLK being dragged into this election-----------

    Hey, Joe?
Why do you have a problem with MLK and Jackie Robinson being recognized as great Americans?

No one has a problem with that, there is just a long line of people in that same category, do they belong in the front, middle or back of the line? Who knows.

Who else can you think of who did something as powerful as leading a nonviolent movement that brought equality to millions of people? Not only that, he did it without the benefit of coming from great wealth and being accorded a position of power by the political or economic establishment.

I didn't say you had a problem with that, but to say that no one has a problem with that is naive. Lots of people have a problem with MLK and Jackie Robinson...or any black person...being treated as equals or given greatness status. It runs counter to what they were raised to believe - that blacks were inferior and worthless. I've had enough worshiping of Presidents. They even named an airport and carrier after Reagan fakrissakes, who did nothing heroic, brave, or self-sacrificing in his life. He was a good president, but so what?

    I liked Civil Rights day.

There are a lot of people deserving of recognition. How about Rosa Parks day?

I don't like how Washington and Jefferson--Washington who was described as a god by someone here just the other day--are no longer considered important enough for a day of their own. If they're going to have "President's Day" why not "Civil Rights Day"?

BTW--who still has a problem with Jackie Robinson?

Why do you think HB? It doesn't take much to figure it out.

Bingo. I'm surprised how few people know. The History Channel is going to have a 2 hour special on his life. Everytime I hear clips of his speech's I do get goose bumps. What a shame that some loser would take his life.

Here's the full I Have a Dream Speech.

Maybe for the same reason you occasionally drag Byrd's KKK connections into the discussion? It's okay to talk about race as long it's about black crime, the Duke boys, black ministers who you label the "shakedown twins," and so on? Is that it?

Sperm buckets? The guy fu(ked around on his wife with women who were more than willing to accommodate him (and his wife didn't seem to hold that against him, either). Maybe he was the victim of sexually aggressive women?:D... Just like his buddy, JFK. Big freakin deal. Thomas Jefferson was in love with one of his slaves. So what? Does that nullify what he did with the rest of his life? The guy was a great American, IMO. I'm in no way offended by the fact that he has a holiday.

I do think that Washington should have his own holiday, along with FDR, Einstein and Armstrong. But that's another story.

Since when did you get so uptight about sex, Nut?
