Mayor for life. Seriously, how stupid can people be to re-elect someone who ursurps term limits in order to remain in power? You get what you deserve NYC. I wonder if Mayor for life Bloomturd will be eating Cheez-its (to refresh your memory click the link) and slogging a Slurpee from his free Yankee Stadium luxruy box, courtesy of the bond deal he gave the team. Typical elitist politician.

New York City plans to enact a far-reaching ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, movie theaters and street carts, in the most ambitious effort yet by the Bloomberg administration to combat rising obesity.

The proposed ban would affect virtually the entire menu of popular sugary drinks found in delis, fast-food franchises and even sports arenas, from energy drinks to pre-sweetened iced teas. The sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces — about the size of a medium coffee, and smaller than a common soda bottle — would be prohibited under the first-in-the-nation plan, which could take effect as soon as next March.

Sweet. Daley-lite is at it again.

Hey Mike, if you're in a banning mood anyway, how about you lead the charge to "ban" high fructose corn syrup?

Actually I think Bloomturd is simply showing his true colors. To think people once talked about him as presidential material.

weed doesn't have to be smoked, and there's certainly an argument that weed in moderation is less harmful than ingesting excessive amounts of sugar and other garbage

Pot-Smoking Mom Drove with Baby on Top of Car

By Andrew Chow, JD at FindLaw.com

    Tue Jun 5, 2012 2:09am EDT

Call it "Dude, Where's My Car Seat?" A pot-smoking teen mom in Arizona faces criminal charges after she strapped her infant son into a child safety seat -- which she placed on the roof of her car and then absent-mindedly drove away.

The car seat fell off the roof and landed in a nearby intersection, Phoenix police told Reuters. The mom, 19-year-old Catalina Clouser, apparently didn't notice.

Witnesses called police, and soon the young mother returned to claim her 5-week-old child, who was not hurt. It was apparently Clouser's second run-in with the cops that same night.

A few hours earlier, Catalina Clouser had been smoking marijuana at a park with her boyfriend and others, according to ABC News. When Clouser and her boyfriend drove to a store to buy beer, her boyfriend got pulled over for DUI. Clouser's infant son was also in the car, police said.

All kidding aside, I voted to lessen the penalty on pot smoking here in Ma. It's just stupid to arrest people for it. Selling is one thing, smoking is another. What I do dislike, is the process involved in fining people. Apparently it's toothless.

OT: Of course, they ignore the beer... :)

she sounds like a winner, either way.

But what's stupid is treating the weed and beer any different, imo. Selling is fine, or should be -- just not selling to kids, or selling stuff that's laced, etc.

The store ("dispensary") I go to is one of the better stores of any kind around. Really friendly staff, very helpful, lots of products.

Let me clarify on the selling part. Selling illegally.

I hate to engage in the logical fallacy of the "slippery slope" argument, but you have to admit that it really is just one small step from regulating the largest size drink you can order to regulating the largest size meal you can order.

No more surf 'n turf, too many calories. In fact, anything larger than a 7 ounce filet is too large. And from now on, restaurants will only be permitted to sell one small sized side dish per meal. And appetizers and desserts are forbidden since they too will bring you over your maximum calorie allowance.
