The Patriots have reached a deal with first-round pick Jerod Mayo, according to a league source. The rookie inside linebacker, drafted with the 10th pick overall in April's draft, will be at the second of the team's two scheduled practices today, the opening day of training camp.

Wow, I had assumed the 5 yr versus 6 yr argument would lead to at least a short holdout. I guess either Mayo didn't want to fight that fight or Pioli/BB are getting softer with age.

Good to hear, but not exactly surprising. The Pats rarely go into training camp without all their rookies under contract. Good job.

BB probably wasn't too concerned with the length of the deal since he's just loading up for one last run before leaving to go coach the Giants.
