And at 3.9 yards/carry those are good-quality tackles.

This was easily Mayo's best game of the season, hopefully he continues to build off of it heading into the playoffs.

He clearly came back injured ... took one for the team IMO.

Lots to be excited about health wise for our team.

Yeah looks like were going to be heading to the playoffs as one of the healthiest teams in the post season. Should have Brady, Warren and Wilfork at or near 100% when its one and done.

    No Jersey Selected

This can't be true. According to Hey Bro! and the many other so-called "geniuses" on this forum, Mayo is nothing but a gigantic bust.

Oh we have a few of those now:

Meriweather, Maroney, Thomas, Brace ... and I'm just getting started.

Don't forget, our defense only looks good against terrible QBs like Matt Moore. The same Matt Moore who scorched the Vikes and G-Men.

Which Bill was calling the plays today ... O'Brien or Belichick?

What about Pees ... was he benched or calling today?

Over the last 3 games our defense has allowed 27 points, for an average of 9 PPG. And while none of the 3 teams (Carolina, Buffalo and Jax) is a world beater, Carolina put up 41 points today on the Giants and Jacksonville put up 31 against Indy last week.

After a rough 4 week stretch from Indy through Miami, the defense appears to have regrouped somewhat. It's not a dominant defense, but no defense is this year. It should be a solid defense for the playoffs, if our offense executes.

Shawn Springs has really helped. Outside of that one long pass to Steve Smith which Meriweather blew, Springs hasn't allowed many completions. Kind of makes me wonder why BB stuck with Wilhite and Butler (although I like both to varying degrees) for so long. Giving Sanders more time in the secondary has also helped, as he takes far fewer chances than McGowan (who is a good player but I can't help but think he is a bad partner for Meriweather)

I agree, Springs has been solid the last couple of weeks. I for one feel much more comfortable with him opposite of Bodden instead of Wilhite.

Mayo was excellent yesterday, he was like a young Junior shooting the gaps. His best performance of the season.

Side-to-side, too. Definitely a health improvement.

    Agreed.

He's still not 100% yet though, there was one point where he tried to plant and turn trying to tackle a player, but his knee was having none of it and he had to give up on the play otherwise he'd have been seriously hurt.

    He's getting there though.

total speculation, but could it be that BB felt Springs couldn't perform at this level for the entire season, and instead wanted to save him for the stretch run/playoffs? (kind of like seau?)

I know he's not quite as old as Junior, but he's not young anymore and he does have a lot of mileage on him.
