Please send your thoughts and prayers to the community of West, TX. After a fire broke out at the facility around 7:00pm, responders were not able to control it and the facility exploded around 7:30. There are numerous people unaccounted for including the first responders.

The Emergency Management Office is reporting between 60-70 dead, though that report is unconfirmed by the Mayor of West or anyone else. There were hundreds injured and at least 12 people Life-Flighted to hospitals as far a 90 miles away.

The comments on that youtube video absolutely disgust me.

"F***ing Arabs!" "This is an attack!" etc. etc.

God, these things are absolutely horrible and the first thing that pops into people minds are racism and revenge over what is most likely an accident.

It was definitely an accident. There was no terrorism here. I ignore the racists who post that crap..

Yeah, it's just disgusting reading those things.

Also felt like defending the guy who recorded it from everyone attacking him for being so close with his child, who I've seen several people comment that they hope she has permanent hearing damage to "teach the father a lesson":

Supposedly 2 workers and 3 first responders are confirmed dead, I hope the deathtoll doesn't continue to rise.

Horrible tragedy, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected. I don't know what it is about this week, but it seems to attract tragedy and disaster. Hopefully this is the end of it, God knows that the World and particularly America has suffered more than it ever should. Stay safe everyone.

A lot of raw footage over here in the UK, as there was with the incident at the Marathon earlier in the week. My heart goes out to those caught up in both incidents.

Unreal, you'd have to believe they weren't properly informed about what they were up against. Very sad :(

Geez, between that and locating a school right next door to that place.........thank God this didn't occur during a schoool day.

Prayers go out to all the victims in this event. The video of the guy and his daughter in the car is chilling. I'm praying she is ok and gets here hearing back.

There was another similar explosion at a chemical plant in the Metroplex just last year.

Youtube comments are pretty much the lowest of the low on the internet. It's impossible to read them without hating humans a little more, so it's probably best not to read them at all.

Wow. Even more tragic, in a way, simply because it was so preventable. I dunno what it is about this week every year, but the bad news just piles on.

That's true. I usually skip the comment section. Just a lot on nonsense in there.

I have never quite seen the chaos engulfing our country in a short period of time like this past week.

First the Boston Marathon massacre, then 2 members of our government receive deadly packages and now this Texas Explosion.

Don't know how much more we can take in a month.

My best wishes to all involved in the texas fire and their families

The school is actually a quarter mile away, but your point remains the same..
