Sorry for the length ... it was hard to choose what to leave out because many of the paragraphs are topics themselves.

    MLK,
He mentions "God" quite a lot, usually liberal democrats frown on that, why are there no "negatives" on that subject such as with Romney Huckabee etc.

Too bad in many ways King has been demonized by the press/media for his alleged communist ties and alleged fooling around.. and even on this board he a thread about him has turned into a polarized thread that minimizes the work of this man. As I grew up and became aware of the world MLK was a man who influenced my view of the world, violence, war and gave many of us the seeds of a vision that things could be different. I read all his books and still enjoy his I have a dream speech, which rivals any sppech I have ever heard. Whether it was in Selma, Atlanta or on the Washington Mall always enjoyed the way he spoke and his view on the way the world is and should work. He has often been imitated, but never duplicated and unfortunately even within the Democratic Party his view has created division and dissention.

His legacy because of the political climate has been tarnished by a few opportunists who are looking to leapfrog their views in this neverending election cycle.

    .

The Hard Left did try to use him, and he certainly did have a problem with his marital fidelity, but he still did more than any other American of the 20th century to heal the divide between the races. A sad tragedy that he he was taken away so young. I applaud those -- both black and white -- who take his mantle and carry on.
