Now I will start off saying this is obviously overblown, but listening to ESPN Radio Daily (because I am bored, I usually can't stand it) for 1/30, Marshall Faulk told Colin Cowherd that he felt the advantage of playing in a previous Super Bowl was taken away by the 9/11 opening. Instead of stretching/ warming up then playing 15 minutes later, there was a 40 minute presentation for 9/11, and they ended up starting the game cold.
This guy is a dick and a Patriots hater.

Now I understand he probably means no disrespect, just sounded really bad coming from a guy who obviously hates the Pats, and probably freedom.
He also mentioned he can't watch that Super Bowl again.

One of my favorite plays in the game iw when they line Marshall Faulk up as kick returner with about a minute left in the first half. Madden and Summerall rave about how potent a threat he is. Then Vinatieri kicks him the ball, and after catching it Faulk's momentum carries him out of bounds at the 9 yard line for a zero yard return.

That's Marshall Faulk's Super Bowl performance for you in a nutshell.

So, Marshall, does that make Bin Laden a Pats fan?

What a foolish excuse to make.

Well, the pregame ceremony explains why Vrabel was able to pancake Marshall as he circled out of the backfield.

I guess it was a good thing that the Pats were a cold weather team. :)

They're not actually related by blood, as far as I know. Something like a distant relation through 3rd cousins, with no actual blood relation.

I guess I'd have to actually hear the tone in which he said it to ascertain whether he was being insensitive or not. Just from reading it the way you did, seems like he was saying it was tougher to go through a usual routine because of the extended pregame ceremony. There's probably some truth to that, although I'm not sure how it relates at all to being in a previous SB, since it would affect both teams equally.

Anyone remember that whiney conspiracy site, stlouisrams.net or something like that, where they said that the government and the NFL colluded to give the SB to the pats? Whatever happened to those freaks, anyway? :D

I thought they were cousins? At least that's what the announcers have said at certain games. On the topic at hand, it's a good thing the pats always approach things like this as 'well both teams have the same conditions'!

so the pats knew what was happening and waited to stretch?

    i don't get it...

If the Rams were supposed to be superior, couldn't you argue that both teams stretching badly would help the rams even more?

Are they the same ones that think the Armstrong moon landing shots were filmed in a Hollywood studio?

Before that game, I told my cousin the Patriots would win, because of destiny, the red white and blue (9/11). Having said that, its purely BS, and I would never really give that reason as why the Patriots won, tho, its a hell of a lot more reasonable then Faulk's comment.

No, but they do think that the landing was shot in Area 51. ;)

I didn't hear that interview, but I've heard his "tone" on other espn shows this week and he is definitely on a "whine tour".

Exactly because he wishes he was where all the Pats have been and are yet to go.
