    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars-warming.html

"Earth is currently experiencing rapid warming, which the vast majority of climate scientists says is due to humans pumping huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Mars, too, appears to be enjoying more mild and balmy temperatures.

In 2005 data from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps" near Mars's south pole had been diminishing for three summers in a row.

Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.

"The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars," he said. "

Guess that means humans have no affect. All that CO2 doesn't do a thing...

Hey, since we're eventually going to die anyway, might as well speed it up, right?

    "Hints"

okay okay.......so this is acceptable science, yet 2,000 planetary scientists are just pleading to get grants? Makes sense.

Oh yeah...I keep forgetting, Mars doen't have an atmosphere like Earth....lets compare them! great science!

IIRC that's how long they've been monitoring the situation and have doine measurements.

    Apples and oranges.

If science is lying about Global Climate Change, what else are they lying about? Does Force equal something other than Mass times Acceleration and can we really be certain that there is an equal and opposite reaction for every action?

Perhaps MY equations in high school Physics were right after all and that stinkin' C I got was bogus:confused:

We had the same damn type of weather we're having now fifty years ago it wasn't talked about because nobody paid any attention to it.

It Snowed In The Winter And we Went To The Beach In The Summer.

No matter how hard a Liberal trys he will never Force His Will on Mother Nature she does what she wants.

Political guys are obsessed about any disagreement implying someone is lying. Perhaps some of the politicians are, to further their agenda's, but I think many scientist are trying to go about their business in a atmosphere poisoned (sorry for the pun) by the politicians.

The law of physics you cited F=MA works at the velocities and masses people typically encounter. At the subatomic level and at very high velocities, different forces are predominate. Neither is a lie, it just depends on what you are looking at and what scale you are observing.

Taking the case of climate science. You have a group of scientist who have developed computer models that attempt to model the atmosphere which is a complex chaotic system with many inputs and interactions some we understand and many we don't.

Based on the outputs of these models, some scientist theorize that man made contributions are causing the observed climate variations. So far the climate models haven't been able to accurately predict the changes we have seen in the climate. Understanding that the climate is never static and is always changing.

Other scientist are disputing the theories the computer models are based on and pointing to other mechanisms that aren't (in many cases) accounted for in the current computer models. The computer models themselves and being modified on an ongoing basis, to try to attempt to improve their accuracy. mathematically this is know as curve fitting. Make the models conform to observed data.

For example between the last IPCC report from the UN on 2001 to the report that will be released in a couple of months (just the summary written by the UN bureaucrats), the estimates of temperature increase have been cut by 50%, the estimate of rise in sea levels have been cut by 50%. This demonstrates that the science is far from settled.

This doesn't suit the needs of the bureaucrats who stand to make billions from the assigning and trading of 'carbon credits' (ironically big multi international corps stand to make big bucks off this also (and also hurt their smaller competitors).

So don't throw away the little you tried to learn in physics calss just learn to distinguish between science and politics.

[IMG]Umcle Martin's got too much on his mind. He should have stayed on earth with Bill Bixby. Looks like he's still undecided about the Global Martian Warming debate, too.
