Didn't he say the same thing last year? ..........

Maybe he's retiring, or refering to an upcoming performance on Dancing with the Stars?

j/k, I'm not a Maroney hater :)

I think he could do it...it depends on the pats making his runs less predictable for one thing. Maroney off tackle (or more likely into the backside of Koppen) was a very predictable play last year.

It is uncanny though how Taylor kind of stutter steps along and then knifes forward for 4 or 5 yards...I wonder if Maroney is kind of lacking in vision and patience.

If Maroney expects to make a drastic improvement he will have to do it behind a banged up offensive line missing key players.

:confused:

I'd expect the improvement, in terms of run blocking, from replacing Kaczur with Vollmer will far outweigh the downgrade from replacing Mankins with Connolly.

I don't think anyone here or anywhere questions his attempt to TRY to be the running back we all expected he would be from round 1 of the 2006 draft...what we wonder is does he have the talent in the pros to get to the level he wants to be at?.

You know that Maroney wants to be at the level of his collegiate partner Marion Barber and wants to be a pro bowler like Barber was in 2007,it has to eat at him of all the mild success his former teammate is having in Dallas - At this time it obviously appears that the level of talent in gratuating to the pros has been MUCH harder for Maroney than Barber at this time

Our OL hasn't been great at run-blocking the past couple of years due to the heavy emphasis on passing the ball. So if we emphasize running it and our OL commit to becoming a better run-blocking unit, I don't see why Maroney won't be successful. I still have hopes for him.

IMO Marion barber, is a over rated RB who get about 220 att per season and still has never got 1000 yerds rushing... Maroney, has never got 200 att in a season if he would get the att he's numbers would be just as good if not better then Barber's

I'd like to see him get some extended time tomorrow night and show us a preview of what he's talking about.

He says the same thing every year.

Love your attitude Laurence - BUT -

:wha::wha::wha::wha::wha::violent:

I'll be quite content if Maroney continues to be the good RB he's been and the line is more focused and determined in the run-blocking game. He along with (a hopefully healthy) Fred Taylor should provide a very good running game to go along with what should be a most awesome passing game :D

2007-08
13 games
185/835
4.5 average
6 TD
0 Fumbles

If he stayed healthy and did that for 16 games it would put him just over a thousand yards. If he did that and didn't fumble I think we would all be pretty happy at this point.

Well, the team is apparently going to lean on the run much more this year. From what I've been watching, it's been evident that Dante and Co. have been working with the O-Line much more in terms of run blocking this season. On top of that, Connolly is pretty underrated as a run blocker (while overrated as a pass blocker). The running game COULD once again be dominant this year. It'll go as far as the O-Line wants to go.

I agree Maroney says the same thing every single year but the difference this time is he better mean it because this is his CONTRACT year...much like Adalius Thomas,a player who does not produce for the New England Patriots is usually finding it hard to get a job with any other team- regardless of age.

Whoa there, Maroney and Adalius are not even close to in the same boat. Maroney would not struggle to find a job if he were a free agent right now.

In all seriousness, I would trade Maroney even up for any one of the following offers;

1) 6 pack of Bud Light - cans would be fine.

2) Small bag of Doritos Cool Ranch chips.

3) Large Starbucks iced coffee.

4) Copy of Rosie O'Donnell sex tape - willing to watch it in slow motion.

5) Single episode of 'Different Strokes" on VHS tape.

In all seriousness, that wasn't funny the first time someone did it, and it isn't funny now.

Oh, and you're a terrible poster. That is all.
