What are the chances that Faulk gets moved up to 2nd string and gets considerably more play time this year, instead of just being a 3rd down back?

Faulk was looking brilliant much of last season.

I think a Maroney-Faulk split of play time could turn out great.

I hope there is absolutely no chance of that happening. I wouldn't last the season. Everytime Faulk touches the ball I hold my breath. I expect to see Morris spelling Maroney on some type of series rotation with Faulk used as he has been for 3rd down mostly. At least I hope so....

If the team is paying more for Morris than Faulk who do you think is gonna be our 2nd RB? - No brainer

faulk is great as a 3rd down back. why screw that up. i would say hes one of the best in the league. plus hes not getting any younger.

Not much chance of that. Faulk is most effective as a prototypical third-down back. He caught 43 balls out of the backfield last year. And, he is most dangerous running ball with draws against a pass defense.

Maroney will be the feature back. Morris will spell Maroney and probably be the short yardage power back...he's supposed to be pretty good at coming in and getting a tough yard.

Well that's your problem. Faulk is a great player for our team but gets so much undeserved crap from fans. I'm standing up for him. He is probably the most unerappreciated player on the team.

I think if we don't draft another back than Faulks role will most definitely increase. Regardless of what happens Maroney's role increases and Faulk, Morriss and possible rook battle for the rest with faulk leading the charge.

I don't see Faulk getting more reps, Maroney maybe, but not Faulk.

This is how I see it.

    Maroney - #1 back
    Morris - spells Maroney
    Faulk - 3rd down back
    Neal - Power back/blocking back

    Works for me.

that is great reasoning, but we know that Bill won't let the paychecks get in the way of things. He will put the most productive players on the field. It didn't stop him from playing Brady over Bledsoe.

I will agree that based on salaries that Morris was brought in here with the intention of being the 2nd string.

I don't think Faulk can be characterized in a depth chart among with the rest of the running backs, because his role is so different.

He is our primary receiving back, who is often used in pass blocking as well. So to answer your question, I think Morris will technically be considered the number 2 back, but Faulk will see more playing time. Faulk has a unique role on this team which makes it difficult to decide which "number" back he is.

I don't think it matters on money....Faulk is just not an everydown or share the carries all the time back. He can share for a bit, but his strength is 3rd and long.

Just ask yourselves this question.....If Maroney goes down for a month in week 2, do you really expect to see Faulk at HB the first time we get the ball the next week? Nah...it will be Morris or somebody we pick up in the draft. I still hope we spend a day 1 pick to upgrade RB.

Faulk is the 3rd down back. Why mess with that?
Faulk will do what he has to to win all day baby!:rocker:

BTW, it's not a lack of love for Kevin Faulk. I think the reason most Pats fans don't want to see him sharing carries with Maroney is precisely because we realize just how important Faulk is as the team's third-down back. He's Dave Meggett.
