Since 1978, when the schedule expanded to 16 games and the new passing rules took full effect, 6 teams have outscored their opponents over an entire regular season by a 2:1 ratio. All 6 teams won the SB. Those teams were
1) 1984 SF 49ers: playoff margin 82-26
2) 1985 Chicago Bears: 91-10
3) 1991 Wash Redskins: 102-41
4) 1996 GB Packers: 100-48
5) 1999 StL Rams: 83-59
6) 2000 Baltimore Ravens: 95-23
With the exception of the 1999 Rams, all the teams cruised through the playoffs to the SB title.
