Poor Cleveland. What did they ever do to deserve this?

    The fans pissed on BB.

The team hired Mangini after his traitorous act.

    Eff Cleveland.

Just makes me appreciate a class act like Brady even more than I already do and that's saying something.

Eh. I don't have anything against Cleveland. It's a city that's seen better days (understatement) saddled with a football team that can't seem to do anything right/catch a break. I'd much rather see Manziel on the Jets, for example, though Geno is a perfectly good fallback.

Washington's football team? Oh, the Redskins. Redskins, got it. Redskins.

The Manziel self-destruction will be entertaining to watch over the coming year(s).

Hats off to the Redskins for instigating the moron. It will only get worse for him. Other teams will be even more "chirpy" now that the Redskins got to him. Redskins.

He's a 21 year old notorious hothead, so I'm not really surprised. I also don't really care. It was kinda bad judgment in the heat of the moment, but the bad judgment was purely in making a gesture that would obviously be picked up by the cameras rather than talking trash like these guys do every second that they're on the field (Brady included). In other words, it's a minor slip up that doesn't matter and shouldn't move the needle at all. I don't want to watch the type of football where we expect guys not to get competitive and mad at each other. Not surprised that the media is blowing up a non-story, though.

I also thought he handled the repeated questions about it in the postgame pretty well. I'm no Manziel fan, but I actually like him a little more after last night.

I would like to clarify that I don't think the finger was a big deal. That said, Manziel should be doing his best to keep a low profile after all the negative press he has generated.

Is there any chance the Cleveland ownership is looking at all this negative press as "free publicity"?

By the same token, the Redskins' godawful defense talking shit to anyone is equally questionable (not very, neither is a big deal). Making Ryan Mallett look bad in a preseason game is probably their best accomplishment in the past year-plus.

Manziel should have just said "you're right, I should have dominated you like literally every QB you played last year did" and left it at that.

The finger in and of itself isn't a huge deal, I'd agree. But when you add it to all the other unflattering items that have come out re: Manziel, it's difficult not to be concerned about his maturity and NFL prospects moving forward.

    The "Curse of the Belichick!"

The Cleveland Browns before their despicable firing of the greatest HC of all time? 421--270, eight League Championships, 27 trips to the Playoffs.

The Cleveland Browns after firing the Hooded One? 77--163, one (lost) Playoff game (WC).

Not connected? I don't think so!

I'm gonna disagree with your first statement; it is a big deal. NFL players have to have a lot more self discipline than Manzieldiot showed both to be able to play the game with focus as well as for a whole variety of PR-related reasons.

How many times over the years do you think TB was provoked to the point that flipping the bird to someone or an entire bench would have been considered a mild reaction to the provocation? But he channels his game-time anger into whipping the other guys' butts or chewing out teammates who make dumb plays, not wasting his energy on crap like that.

What he said. Trash talk during a game that's supposed to stay on the field is a whole other thing than doing something that any fool knows a few million people can see. ;)

Brady has been provoked countless times over the years, and when provoked he's talked endless amounts of shit to the defenders in question. Remember Anthony Smith? Remember Richard Sherman two years ago? The only difference between what Manziel did last night and what Brady (and every other QB) does all the time is that you can't capture shit-talking in a picture then sensationalize it to all hell.

Exactly my point. Thanks for re-iterating it (see my other post immediately above your's). Trash talk on the field that's supposed to stay on the field is part of the game. Flipping the bird for a few million people to see is sheer stupidity and loss of control.
