A lot of people on here wanted us to draft him back in 2006. After looking at a few bios it looks like he tore his ACL early last year and went on IR. He's back this season but so far in 4 games he's only racked up 8 tackles, no sacks, and 1 pass defense. Looking at his rookie season numbers Lawson had 57 tackles and 2 sacks in 16 games. For comparison, Mayo has 25 tackles in just 3 games granted they play different positions.

I am wondering, since not many of us get to watch the 49ers much these days, are these stats deceptive and is Lawson really a beast behind the scenes? Is he fully healthy coming off his ACL tear?

Having tore up my knee, I can say that we will not see the real Manny for most of this year. However next season, he should show us what he has, provided he does not get reinjured.

Since you have experience with it, what are your thoughts re: Brady & his rehab - it's different for a QB, I'm sure...but the idea of not seeing the real Brady by early next season isn't exactly a happy thought.

We would of had glass-Maroney or glass-Lawson on the team. That pick was glassed from the start. :D

Lawson is out this week with a hamstring issue. I wanted him when we drafted Maroney.

Entirely different for Brady. He does have to sidestep and slide around in the pocket, but he usually does not have to run full speed and make cuts. If Brady has to scramble, then we should see a difference. However I suspect he will come back next season and if the surgery is done correctly, be the same player he was last season. Maybe the rest will do his oft-reportedly injured shoulder some good as well.

While it will be impossible to ever know, you have to think that if Manny were drafted by the Patriots; that Woicik and his S&C program might have Manny in a different physical state. I mean last season Woicik kept Stallworth's hammy's loose enough for us to get a full season out of the guy.

Why do people insist on trying to use tackles as a comparative stat? Its not. All tackles shows is how biased the statistician is for a particular team There was an article about it not long ago pointing out that it was impossilbe for Patrick Willias to have had as many tackles as was reported. Same with the guys on the Colts.

Even the Pats were guilty of it.

The article pointed out that there is an average of 1.4 tackles given out per play in the league or something to that affect. That, right there, should tell you that its not reflective of anything. And its certainly not reflective of how influential a player is on the field.

Are you going believe some reporter from the Dallas Morning News on stat inflation or the team's unbiased and professional record keepers?

It will be interesting to compare Manny Lawson's physique to Shawn Crable's, next season.
