...it tolls for thee !
I'm just as encouraged by the Patriots performance today as the next guy, but if for some reason the Patriots don't continue to win, at least we have something to fall back on and watch with glee this season: the end of Eric Mangini's career in the NFL.
If the Jets finish under .500, after all the new big contracts and bringing in the HoF QB, I'm convinced ownership will assign all of the blame to him and let him go. Woody Johnson doesn't come across as a 'longview' type of guy to me... an off the handle reaction firing is certainly possible.
And we already know how Mangini is perceived around the league... unless a team like Detroit or some other doormat gives him another shot as H.C., his career in the NFL is essentially over. Who's going to bring in the guy as a coordinator or positional coach when they know for a fact that he'll stab you in the back if he moves on to bigger and "better" things?
It's not like we want to see the Jets do well anyway, but this is just a little extra incentive to sit back and watch them free fall.
For this week: Go Chargers !
