Mangini not exactly Mangenius anymore.

Belichick does the QB sneak in that situation a lot. Just not when it's likely to fail.

Belichick uses the 3-4 most of the time. Just not when it's likely to fail.

Monkey see, monkey do...but monkey no understand!!

[Edit] Oh...and monkey fling poopoo at zookeeper when mad!

Bill ran a 4-3 his first couple of years here because his players fit that mold, didn't he?

The Jets wont dump Mankotite after one bad year (although they did dump Pete Carroll pretty quickly). One more year of pathetic football and Manboobs is coaching Pop Warner football in Poughkeepsie.

Pete's teams saw decline every year he was here. Kraft dumped him before he bled anymore talent.

Not sure, but he's definitely run a "de facto" 4-3 in multiple games this year, including last Sunday against the Cowboys (Vrabel lining up as 4th down lineman).

I'm wondering at what point the organization seriously considers letting Tubby go. Say he recovers to 6-10 or 7-9, then he's probably back in 2008. But do they cut bait at 4-12 (or worse)? What's the threshold? Should be interesting, especially if he sticks with Pennington.

Probably too much egg to absorb to dump him this season unless a full blown mutiny breaks out. But he could be gone early next season if they can't get off to a solid start. Will be interesting to see if he takes Tannenbaum out with him, since it's likely he drove the genius I can land you train with ownership to play off Woody's envy of all things Belichick and set up his little GM coup. Woody might opt for a name value retread to defelct attention and get the media and the fan base off his back, and that could come at the price of someone demanding control of football operations and his own personnel guy. You may begin to see a little coaching exodus too as the finger pointing escalates and if Schotsie decides to get back in the fray somewhere he'll likely want his kid back.

The thing is. Mangini never was a Mangenius. It was a desperation move by the Jets to sign him in the first place. A lot of things fell his way last year. He was thrown a bone just being named the defensive coordinator for the Patriots. Belichick tried to do him a favor. Imagine that. The year that Mangini was the defensive coordinator, not only was that one of the worst defensive years for the Patriots, but the players almosted revolted on him because of his play calling. Belichick had to practically take over the defense for him. Mangini is a glorified towel boy and that's all he ever will be.
