Mangini likened to Hurricane Andrew

Imagine you run a multi million dollar sports franchise ... and you put Eric Mangini to coach the team ... that's messed up.

well too bad, Mangini is not the guy to handle the team
draft him to high school football lol

he'll be back to coordinating soon

interesting how McDaniels is having so much more success than Mangini and Romeo

Because BB groomed McKid to specifically become a head coach. He handed McDaniels a multi-page report about all that goes into being a head coach - what players to pick up for the system, cap management, draft management, etc.

On top of that, Josh has a better football mind than both of them.

Romeo shouldn't be dissed.
He did draw the defensive blueprint that helped defeat the Pats in 07.
We need to wait on Josh. Let us see how he is doing 3 years from now
Mangenius was given that name for a reason.

"Augustus Gloop." Classic. :)

"Some players complained privately about the length of training camp practices and more hitting than some of them had experienced since high school. Mangini also has subjected players to pop quizzes during meetings, his way of making sure they are learning their playbook and about each other. He forced his rookies to take a 10-hour bus trip this summer to his football camp, and made his team practice outdoors in the rain."

So those are the complaints of him? I mean, I think Mangini isn't fit to be a head coach but it wouldn't be for those reasons listed above.

The players that are complaining about this are the ones that:
- Can't take the practice of a high school team.
- Don't know the playbook and don't want to be questioned about it.
- Think bus trips are beneath them.
- Don't like to play in the rain.

Seriously, if this is the make up of the team, then I can understand why they are so bad.

Hurricane Andrew really let himself go!

thanks, i'll be here all week.

In fairness to Mangini, Cleveland wanted a taskmaster but enforcing rules consistently is a very different skill than motivating players, which he clearly can't do

Pffft, this comparison is a joke!

Eric Mangini and Hurricane Andrew are NOTHING alike! One was an enourmous natural disaster that blasted in to not one, but TWO major American cities and left a trail of unprecidented destruction and misery, the likes of which may never be seen again in our lifetimes, in its wake, and the other was Hurricane Andrew.

(My thanks to Craig Ferguson for the skeletal structure of that joke) :D

but plenty of coordinators can't coach

Belichick, Romeo, and Mangini all crashed there, so maybe it's just Cleveland

Well it's interesting - they fired Belichick, but they keep hiring his assistants. Course, we're talking about two different ownership groups.

Since when does Rolling Stone give a darn about football anyway?

Maybe the ownership just wants to make a great stroy. The team that fired BB is the team that wins the Superbowl with a BB castoff...... resulting in BB's success in NE being attributed to the castoff afterwards.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that this is a bad comparison. Last I checked, Hurricane Andrew didn't hold pointless quarterback competitions in the offseason.
