Heard this on Sirius NFL Radio today - Favre is expected to be asked by Eric to join the Browns camp to help out with his QBs and thier mechanics (Yeah,Right).

Farve may not be 6 feet under yet - I really think Mangini has him there for a reason other than teaching.

Stay Tuned to this soap opera ...

Re: Mangini asks Favre to come to Browns training camp ... To help QBs? (Yeah, right)

Eric may in fact be dumber than he is egotistical...

Took Mike Holmgren a couple of seasons to beat the Favre out of Hasselback, and it still shows up from time to time (usually at the most inopportune ones) like some bad acid flashback...

This is not something you want to expose your developing QB's too. All too few potential gunslingers have the raw talent Brett had which just barely made his style of play paletable. His pre game preperation and in game decision making habits are also something you want them to pick up on about as much as his drinking or addiction to painkillers...

Yeah,Just what a guy with a lot of upside like Brady Quinn needs ... To learn to throw the ball off balance and super tight in between 2 defenders and take your 50/50 chances of an INT - Good idea Eric :rolleyes:

Quinn has looked pretty decent in the little time he has played as Browns starting QB - He only needs a little more time and has the potential to be a very good QB within the next 5 years,He does not need Favre to help him.

I think Mangini sees what Brady taught Cassel over a few camps and has that frame of mind that he can duplicate such with Favre tutoring Quinn - I Don't think so

It's really starting to seem like Mangini just wants the spotlight on himself. I can't think of another reason why he would do such a thing.

Wasn't Mangini supposably upset with Favre's improvising and called him out on many occassions in film studies that peissed Favre off? Now he wants Favre to teach those bad tendencies to Brady Quinn?

He's bringing Favre in to show Quinn how it is to "just be like a kid out there and love football."

Oh wait...Quinn actually IS a kid out there and already seems to love football. Stupid Mangina!

And I"m thinking that after about a week and the kleig lights Brett turns to the camera and says, " you know I can still do this and I think I'm ready to come back" Then thre will be the obligatory article in Peter King's MMQB column about it and John Clayton will get on FSPN and talk it up as a viable option. Bus Cook will start calling GMs around the league saying he's ready to come back.... NFLN will do a piece on what it takes to get off the retired list and reactivated....That should do it....

Difference is, Brady is a cerebral QB, while Favre is more instinctual. Much, much harder to teach instincts.

    To Deus:

I agree with your underlying premise, but I'll admit I'm having trouble discerning your angle on this particular thread. Are you saying we're not giving Favre or Mangini a fair shake based on media perception?

Re: Mangini asks Favre to come to Browns training camp ... To help QBs? (Yeah, right)

My perception is that Favre is still the property of the Jets, and if Ratboy brings Favre into the Browns training camp, he is guilty of tampering.

How out of phase is that with reality?

No, it's not just media perception. Another aspect to public perception/NFL reality is the "He's not on my team, so I'll crush him for every minor flaw" approach. People here love to bag on Favre's interceptions, for example, but awfully quiet about things like Brady's tossing that pick from the ground against Miami.

He's on the retired list, so if he's not there as a player, how is that tampering?

People bag on Favre because he's hugely overrated. And one bad Brady ball is nothing compared to the volume of INTs Favre has thrown. Brady had good reason to throw that ball-- he'd made the same throw successfully earlier. But he hasn't done it since meaning he doesn't embrace his bad habits like Lord Favre.

Seriously, first ESPN and now this? I don't get it. I know you're not a real Pats fan but it seems like you've been posting here forever. Are you Eric Mangini? This is my leading theory.

Agreed. It seems weird to compare one bad decision with a career laced with them. I'm not a Favre hater, the guys a HOFer, but I do acknowledge that the guy threw farve (far) too many INTs.

See, this is why people think drugs are bad. You shouldn't be posting while impaired. What I pointed out was something known, and identified, as an "example".

Re: Mangini asks Favre to come to Browns training camp ... To help QBs? (Yeah, right)

I have no problem pointing out that an individual play was not a good one by Brady, but I'm usually willing to forgive them because he's won three super bowls and those lapses in judgment are the exception for him, not the rule.

Of course Brady gets more leeway around here, but ask anyone outside of New England who takes more risks with the football and they'll say Brett Favre (or they're lying). Whether you believe those risks outweigh the positives he brings is another argument entirely, but the fact remains, Favre makes a lot of mistakes in big situations, which in today's NFL is the opposite of what you want from the QB position.

Oddly enough, Packers' fans were willing to give Favre that same leeway. That's my point.
