I think we have to salute the Obama Administration for this one. First they decided to invent a category that doesn't exist and called it "Jobs saved".

So then they figure heck, since we are making up a category which doesn't exist, we might as well make up any numbers we darn well please.

Now they have taken it to the next logical step. Since they are making up a category that doesn't exist and making up numbers with no basis in reality, they may as well put all those statistics into made up, imaginary Congressional Districts! I am sure they will next be making up brand new states, after all we know there is 57 of them these days.

We salute you, President Barack Hussein Obama, real man of genius.

Key House Dem Wants Answers on Recovery.gov Errors - The Note

Errors in data tracking job creation under the stimulus are prompting bipartisan blowback on Capitol Hill.

Hours after ABC's Jonathan Karl reported on government data showing hundreds of created jobs and millions of dollars spent in congressional districts that don't exist, House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, D-Wis., late Monday issued a blistering statement demanding an immediate fix to "ludicrous mistakes" on the Recovery.gov Website.

"The inaccuracies on recovery.gov that have come to light are outrageous and the Administration owes itself, the Congress, and every American a commitment to work night and day to correct the ludicrous mistakes," Obey said. "Credibility counts in government and stupid mistakes like this undermine it. We've got too many serious problems in this country to let that happen."

You know what we need? We need this administration to take over the Health Care Industry.

    Signed,
Concerned citizen from the 7426th District of New York.

As a proud resident of the great state of West Carolina, I agree.

I'm sure Obama was directly responsible for making this happen.

This is almost as offensive as his bow in Japan.

The bow in Japan was fine. Who cares really...its tradition and I'm fine with that.

But illegal appropriation and spending of stimulus money should and will be blamed on Obama's administration.

Would you prefer he point the finger at others? It was his idea and his plan. ANYTHING that goes wrong with it is certainly his fault. No matter who is president, the blame would go to him.

Illegal? I wasn't aware there was any evidence of monies being spent "illegally"?

Certainly if that were the case, heads should roll. In fact, whomever is responsible for tracking said monies at Treasury or Commerce should probably lose their jobs over this, depending on how bad the oversight was and what contributed to the error(s).

While it's good the Obama administration is being more transparent than perhaps any other administration and while it's good they have actuallly made the stimulus information available on the internet, it does not mean they should be allowed to get away with bad reporting and errors. They deserve criticism for the mistakes on Recovery.gov. Let's hope they don't return the secrecy of prior administrations and the corporate world.

I guess the politics of "Hope" require us to use a little imagination. Ok, lots of imagination, as in imagining there were jobs and states that aren't actually there. :D

Seriously though, why is anyone surprised? This is business as usual in DC.

This only proves that the $787 billion "stimulus" was an utter and complete failure. The Obama's administration's inflating of the numbers only proves it did not have the job-saving impact it was intended to have. Now future generations of Americans are stuck with paying off this total waste of money.

Perhaps you'll have to connect the dots for me. How does this story prove anything of the sort?

As the post says, we really want this government in charge of health care?

$214,463 for a Massachusetts congressional district that hasn't existed since 1963.
$281,790 for a Massachusetts congressional district that hasn't existed since Maine was granted statehood in 1820!
$1,353,691 for a Massachusetts congressional district that hasn't existed since 1993.
$28,032,382 for Massachusetts congressional districts that have never existed in the entire history of the state- the lovely 25th, 86th, and 00th congressional districts.

Obama does deserve a lot of blame since he was pushing the act hard and he was pushing the website hard for months. He is responsible for hiring the people in charge of overseeing the funds and hiring all of the inspector generals that oversee the federal agencies that get the money and/or disperse the money.

Last night on BOR John Stossel said that a $1,000 purchase of a lawn mower with stimulus money, was credited for saving 50 jobs. WTF?

50 people will use that mower and it will be one each week except for xmas and new years weeks. The 49 not using it will collect unemployment for the 51 weeks that don't have it.

sounds about right to me ... always thought the jobs created figures were a joke. A job is like 1 task from 1 person. Over the course of an 8 hour day they can say they created 32 jobs ... 32 fifteen minute tasks = 32 jobs.
