Ok. I'm back in Canada for a couple of months before I head back down to Belize for the winter. My girlfriend asks me to her parents place for her birthday dinner. I say "sure baby. Glad to". Then I find out its for today and that I'm going to miss the game. I've thought of every possible excuse and I just can't get out of it. She's picking me up in 30 minutes.
    I can't believe this???

You can stand up and be a man!:D

If you intend of ever marrying this girl, you need to set the ground rules right off. Let her know that nothing is more important than Patriots football.

Having dinner at 4:30 is the answer. That way everyone is happy. People who schedule things without checking the Patriots schedule first need to get their priorities in order.

I hope that she is grateful to you and will express that gratitude in a tangible way.:rocker:

LOL, feel for you. I think I am in love and this past week I havent been able to think about Patriots or anything...at all. It's been horrible but I'm pumped for todays game!!!

P.S, if you can tape the game and even better use a DVR if ya got one. I havent missed a game since 2003.

I'm sorry, but what kind of groom lets his bride pick a wedding day and time that conflicts with the Patriots schedule? Was this an out of state wedding?

Mrs Lucky has had the honor of being married to me for many years. She knows to work things around the Patriots games.

The funny thing is she really does understand that the Pats schedule is extremely important in terms of planning anything ahead of time. Its one of the reasons why I'm in love with this girl. Its her mom that needs to be indoctrinated! When she found out about the game conflict, she said, "you don't have to come" and she meant it.
I'm going for the Mom factor!!!

Oh man, this is an easy fix.

Fake sickness. If that doesn't work, dump her like a bag of trash. Then again, if she was a smart person, she would have known the Pats schedule and not asked you to go or she would have delayed it for you to watch the game.

That's 100% correct - but the family needs to show you some love.

4:30 dinner is only right - hell, you are sacrificing by not watching the 4:00 games.

Nobody is a bigger Pats fan then I, but also , how many can say they have been in love (and happily married) for 31 years?

I know of what I speak.

Ditto here. Just gotta be straight with 'em from day one.

On our first date, as I leaned in for my first kiss... she stopped me and said, "You do realize that I have a four year old (from her previous marriage), and he will always be the most important thing in my life".

I smiled and said, "Of course I do." She smiled big, and leaned back in for the kiss.

Then I stopped her and said, "You do realize that I am a diehard Patriots fan, and Sundays will always be mine, and mine alone, and you will never be allowed to dictate my schedule on that day during the season."

She smiled and nodded. So I added, "never, ever, ever, ever, ever... no family functions, no chores, no dance recitals, no going to the kids games, no nuthin' ever ever ever ever ever..."

She got up and walked away. We had our first kiss on the second date.

But Sundays have been mine for over 15 years including 7 wonderful years of marriage. :D

That's another great benefit of being a Patriots fan. Girlfriends don't complain about watching football when Tom Brady is the quarterback.

Got mine hooked, and it's been clear sailing ever since.
