Yesterday put up a thread about how the CIA and Vatican were editing Wikipedia, guess this is not an exclusive venue of anyone.. today there are various reports that Chris Wallace, the CIA and FBI all have done their share.. sure this will keep coming, too many people in this pot for me.. feel bad for some HS kid doing something on history and just repeats the idle pap generated here, talk about revisionist history.. the last link is the actual revision made by fox news.. btw I am confident it happens on both sides of the aisle and is not exclusive to the right..

People using CIA and FBI computers have edited entries in the online encyclopedia Wikipedia on topics including the Iraq war and the Guantanamo prison, according to a new tracing program.

The changes may violate Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest guidelines, a spokeswoman for the site said on Thursday.

The program, WikiScanner, was developed by Virgil Griffith of the Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico and posted this month on a Web site that was quickly overwhelmed with searches.

The program allows users to track the source of computers used to make changes to the popular Internet encyclopedia where anyone can submit and edit entries.

WikiScanner revealed that CIA computers were used to edit an entry on the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. A graphic on casualties was edited to add that many figures were estimated and were not broken down by class.

Both Fox News and the New York Times have been caught being naughty with certain entries. The Geeks Are Sexy blog has a long list of Fox News edits. Here’s an example:

…you’ll find changes that were made by IP address 12.167.224.228, which resolves to Fox News. Changes are to the articles “Keith Olbermann”, “Chris Wallace”, “Carl Cameron”, “Brit Hume”, “Shepard Smith”, “Al Franken”, “Brian Wilson”, “CNN”, and “Greta Van Susteren”.

    From

O’Reilly’s show, ”[[The O’Reilly Factor]]”, airs on the Fox News Channel at the same time as Olbermann’s show on MSNBC, garnering ratings six times higher than Olbermann’s.

    To

O’Reilly’s show, ”[[The O’Reilly Factor]]”, airs on the Fox News Channel at the same time as Olbermann’s show on MSNBC, garnering ratings ten times higher than Olbermann’s.

I saw this segment on Olbermann's show. I kind of liked the hands-off stance in which the creator of Wikepedia was taking. Kind of let the market correct itself, and within minutes some of those posts were fixed.

    .

So if lefties keep writing their "pap" in Wikipedia, it's all good; but if someone of a more conservative bent shows up, the sky if falling ??

    Vast right-wing conspiracy.

    Boo-hoo.

I don't see what the issue is. Anyone can edit it - that's anyone. It is what it is.

.... unless you are right of Katie Couric or Larry King. Then, it's "bad".

I guess they want it to be a Liberal Bed of Lies like most of the media already is.
