I've read all the chicken little threads, and all the 'chill out people' threads since last night. Last year, I was one of guys making the kumbaya, 'lets all hug', 'oh we'll be ok, won't we?' threads.

Now, I'm just pissed. It isn't just another bad game. Last night was a frikkin' groundhog day repeat of everything that was wrong last year -- no response for half-time adjustments, forcing balls to moss/ww, vanilla playcalling, BB with too much on his plate, no heart to win on the road, no killer instinct, "bend but don't break".

This secondary is NOT good enough to face elite teams. We do NOT have a pass rush that'll faze the Mannings/Favres/Breeses. The Running game looks no different without Maroney, in fact losing him will probably bite us in the ass. Thank Ja the o-line is holding up so far, we'll see how far that goes with the depth we have. Yet we didn't make a single FA pick to address any of those needs.

All of last season, I was sure the next game would bring improvements. Then I was sure the next season would bring improvements. But every one of last year nagging problems were right back there on the field last night. You know what they say about insanity = doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. :bricks:

Thanks but I'll pass, because I was never on the wagon. I am a fan, and as such I have the right and the obligation to rant when my team lays a rotten egg like that. Ignore my pessimism for a second, do you not see any similarity from our troubles last year? Can you tell me if anything was done to address any of those issues?

I certainly understand. It's tough to see the same trend from last season starting this year. As far as the weaknesses you pointed out, we did address those needs. (or at least try to)

In the secondary, we re-signed Bodden and drafted McCourty. With Bodden hurt, each player is playing one position higher than we wanted. That's going to make a difference.

As for the pass rush, we re-signed Banta-Cain, drafted Cunningham and made an offer to Julius Peppers. With him signing so quickly in Chicago, after all his talk about wanting to play in a 3-4, it was clearly all about money and the Bears offered more than anyone else.

The offensive line I can't say was a critical problem this offseason. We have made moves through signings, the draft and even the trade with Atlanta to try to add depth. I'm not sure what you were looking for.

Lastly, with regards to the running game, I can't think of anyone worth picking up outside Chester Taylor. Like Peppers, he signed very quickly in Chicago. As for the draft, which one of our top picks would you drop to draft a RB instead?

Again, I understand the frustration you have about how we've played late in games so far this season. However, I do think we did very well this offseason considering who we needed to re-sign and who was available in free agency. We did very well in the draft based on early returns. I also don't think our 2nd half performances is solved by a CB or RB, etc. It's something the entire team needs to get back to, playing tough, playing smart and finishing games.

Well, there'll soon be plenty of opportunities to jump off the bandwagon. Given the team's struggles on the road, and the quality of opponent they're facing at home, it's possible the Pats will be below 500 when they get the Jets at home in December.

OTOH, they could turn it around, win a few road games, and be on top of the division.

    Who knows?

The problems are correctable, I understand your frustration because I feel it too. The players have to start listening to the coaches, Merriweather was benched for "doing his own thing" as he stated instead of doing what he was told, well I got a feeling hes not the only one. Why listen to BB, he doesnt know what he doing
BTW, Brady only went to Moss 4 times in the second half, that int he threw with Tate wide open I think was a pre snap read and he thought he had the matchiup he wanted, the ball just didnt bounce right for us off the tip.

10-6, 11-5 all require a loss here and there. Is there really a loss you would except. Everyone knew from the start this wasn't gonna be a steam roller season. Take a breath, realize it's one game, exhale and move along. Or you can put on the ruby slippers and start clicking your heels together, and try to transport yourself to 2003.:scared:

Some of your concerns have merit but the doomsday correlations that you derive from them seem illogical.

The Pats won their first game in convincing fashion against a non-sucking opponent - despite staring the season with key players out and with youngsters in critical positions. They then lose a divisional road game to a top ranked team. In the loss the Pats youngsters make plenty of mistakes, Brady plays like crap in the second half, and Butler has a game to forget: from this you lose your faith – after the second game?

Were you expecting a juggernaut that would annihilate every opponent? The Pats are a work in progress and with a little bit of luck (injury gods) they have a chance to morph into a contender.

If we could predict them we'd have many rich people in the forum for sure.

I agree ... loses are part of the game.

We don't have any exclusive rights to the best coaches or players.
Why some fans think we can always out think and out play other teams each and every week is inane.

    I understand people's concerns.

It was a bad loss...in week two.

There are 14 games left, tons of time.

The future looks great with hopeful development and high picks.

As of this year, as a fan I acknowledge the fear of reverting back to last year. Let's keep on keeping on and supporting the team.

Those fans that get the opportunity to go live to the games, be loud.

I understand the concerns but choose to stand by my team, even after losing to the 2011 SB champs.

Time to get back to work and keep the frusterations (front office and in pressers to ourselves).

Thanks for your responses. I admit the title of the thread is harsh, a knee jerk on my part. Mea culpa.

It's just that, like I said, all of the same struggles from last season showed up again on Sunday night. I felt the same pangs frustration and helplessness that I felt week 2 last year, or during the second halves against the Colts, Broncos, and several others. From here on my couch, it feels like BB is clueless about the elephant in the room. I realize though that that's dumb. As posters have pointed out, efforts have been made to address these concerns.

No, I certainly was not expecting '04 or '07 again (though I did and still fantasize about it, I think we all do). Part of it is the lofted expectations that have somewhat become that norm from the BB-TB combo. Then the humiliation of losing, no, getting pummeled by the freaking Jets in their own home, and making Rex and Sanchez look like Payton and Brees for crying out loud @#$%*

Anyway, F that. The order of the universe will restore itself. There will be more losses, but I have to keep faith (yes, "faith" :snob:) that this team has what it takes to overcome these challenges, no matter how long it takes. Bring on the Jills. You can bet your ass TB and the guys are foaming at the mouth, even worse than I am.

Check the timestamps. Those posts were made borne during the fleeting moments of euphoria that wanton intoxication brings...when one inadvertently reflects on comforting thoughts. Besides, are you suggesting it's ABnormal to be bipolar around here? :D

    No Jersey Selected

Agree that losses are part of the season, but the hapless nature by which we went down in the second half is what is bothersome.

More aggravating: Jets had one less day to prepare, had Jenkins out, did not play good in the first half, and Revis out later in the half + a few other players who got hurt but returned. So very solid reasons to get mad at this particular loss with a division rival.

I just gotta say, the practice of affixing pictures to lampoon what someone else took the time to type is a cheap response.

Yeah, as if a mother type woman and her 2 children just read the thing and are reacting like that.

It's cheap, as is the sarcastic caption. I don't necessarily agree with what the guy is originally saying in the thread, but that affixed image is just taking the easy way out.

Well, I'm not gonna expect much from a guy with that pic from that dense flick for his avatar anyway. Must be a real cinefile.

We romp the Bills and threads like this wont be popping up.Teams lose thats it cant expect to be 16-0 every year.Brady has bad games he's human.Lets give up on this team cause they lost to the Jets.My confidence is a tad shaken but I have no doubt this will make the team better and stronger sometimes a loss does more good then a win.
