    The pro-statehood New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico has swept local elections in Puerto Rico. The new governor and the new non-voting representative in Washington are very pro-statehood. A recent poll showed that 79% answered that if given a choice between statehood and independence they would vote for statehood. If the U.S. Congress were to offer statehood to the people of Puerto Rico, 76% would vote to accept statehood.

    Puerto Rico has almost 4,000,000 residents, and if it became a state then they would have at least five congressmen in the House and two senators obviously.

    We would have to change our flag if Puerto Rico became a state. Here are two proposals...
