Good read: NFL.com news: Patriots, Ravens need to take hard look at shortcomings

I 100% agree with below, I fully expect the Pats to move target specific players and move up in this year's draft.

I really hope they take that advice and go for help with the pash rush now and not down the road. They have a 4 year window with Brady. The time to win is now!!

I was thinking this exact thing before I saw your post: having crazy(?) thoughts about how overall, this team is fine as it is, at almost every position.

Need to move up and take 1) a monster DE, and 2) a monster OLB--that's pretty much it (and maybe two of each in case of injury, or if Ty Warren isn't the same )

I agree, but the question is who??

Good article although we have been reading that BB should use his picks to move up for a while now. Does he finally give in?

That's a great point. Most people probably feel that we need a stud pash rusher to solve our problems. However, I think you have hit the nail on the head. What this team needs is a dominant 5 tech. Let's see how Cunningham and Moore will flourish with some help at DE.

Nick Fairley and Marcel Dareus are out of the question as they will probably go in the top 3 or 4... We could trade into the top 10 if Da’Quan Bowers or Robert Quinn slips a bit. How about Von Miller?

"New England cannot play the Jets without a bona fide outside receiver next year" and preferably a Z receiver who can run effective fly, wheel, corner and out routes.

I agree with Lombardi 100% though BB will probably find a way to pocket a pick or two for 2012 too.

trade up and get Robert Quinn, he will be the next big pass rusher in the NFL

Seconded. Still think he goes to high to get even with our 2 firsts.

Every team left in the playoffs has a damn good pass rush. The Jets probably have thev worst of the bunch and they dropped Brady 5 times. However they get a legit pass rush is not nearly as important as getting one.

I only see it happening if this is a top heavy draft. BB normally doesn't trade up

I think we are active in Free Agency. I believe we will be in strong cap shape.
I hope that we built a power running game, and strengthen the front 7.

Its nice that we can score bunches of points with the best QB in the NFL, but BB needs to recognize he is putting Brady in a position to fail by forcing opponents to sell out and gamble to take him away.
Its a great philosophy to win a lot of games, because you cant take him away often, but it is clearly difficult to get through a playoff run without running into a team that comes up with a good gameplan to stop our one dimensional offense and execute it, especially when we dont have a D that we can count on to win 14-13 games.

After losing Julius Peppers to free agency, the Carolina Panthers could take him #1 overall.

To be honest, as much as there are needs on the offense I'd really like to see the defense became an outright beast unit themselves with the ability to restrict opponents from doing anything when the offense sputters as majorly as it did against the Jets.

Are you serious? There's no way Quinn is going #1 overall over Fariley and Bowers.

It's all going to depend on the games played with the CBA. Every free agent and tradeable player can be one less draft pick needed to look for a priority position, but will those players really be available prior to the draft?
