This article does not imply that Mangini has talked to Cesario.

RC will be quite an asset for EM, I thought RC might come back to the Pats.

I never hated the Browns. Now with Tubby Ratfink running the show there, I have a healthy contempt for them. But in a sense it doesn't matter -- they'll go nowhere with him.

Why another team would give this guy a HC job is baffaling. He had one good season in NY, then all the smoke and mirrors motivational tricks wore off. I guess Clevland has become the Jets,or Oakland of the Central division. A Black Hole for a lot of high draft picks, and money.

You could be on to something here, its that kind of thinking that gets you where the Jests and Oakland are. ;)

That, or perhaps they are simply in need of more tax write-offs. I'd consider listing the entire franchise as a charity case.....

That isn't what was said. Not to mention that Mangini can talk to Caserio about a position that is a promotion regardless of whether Caserio is under contract or not. He doesn't need the Pats permission.

McDaniels probably needs permission because the Special Assistant position may be considered higher than a DC position.

As for Crennel's return to Cleveland, why did Lerner terminate his contract then? Why didn't he just re-assign Crennel if he wanted to keep him in the organization?

And another, once-great Franchise shows why it has been spiralling downwards for over a decade.

Are you refering to the Browns????

who are a new franchise since 2002?

Remember they moved to Baltimore and became the ravens. The Browns did not exist for a few years until they were given an expansion team back.

I think it is more a struggle to go upwards than a spiral down. Look no further than the Bucs to see how hard it can be for a franchise to get going.

They've been back since 1999 - not that noticeably, though ;)

On a technical note--as a result over the acrimonious move, the NFL declared that the Ravens are the expansion team, and that the Browns "suspended operations" for a couple of years. In other words, the "franchise history" for the Ravens, as far as the NFL is concerned, began when they arrived in Baltimore.

I know you said technical - But my point was that they are not spinning downward but have been struggling to climb up since they had to restart.

on your technical note - that is the way it should be, so its nice to see its the case. But just because they get to keep their history doesn't mean they still were not basically an expansion team.

I guess I was thinking they came in with the Texans but I stand corrected.
