B/R said that BB asked him about playing this year. Glad he said no. Way to try to stunt the growth of the rookie WRs by starting a mediocre nutcase again.

It was obvious by his style of play last season that he does NOT like getting hit, NFL style. So much for those hyperventilating when we didn't sign the guy. You can't play in the NFL without taking hit after hit that would cripple most of us. Good luck post football to LLoyd who is probably shakenly relieved that AH killed the other Lloyd instead.

Couldn't agree more. I always thought he was overrated.... that zero YAC was hard to watch.

    This makes a lot sense.

Many teams needed/need wide receivers, including the patriots. We brought in many, many who were much poorer prospects than Lloyd.

As many said throughout the preseason, Lloyd was a great idea as a #4 backup WR, to be used as need, and as injuries arose.

Good luck to him. It is really a shame that we failed to deal with his medical issues, as we failed with Price.

I'd love to have him on the team, but I'm not surprised that he turned them down, assuming the report is correct. The Patriots gave him a lower money deal last year than he'd have gotten in most years, and they followed that up by cutting him when he wouldn't take a pay cut. He's a guy who's had a top 100 hit as a rap 'artist', and now has time to do more of that, if he chooses. Under those circumstances, why on Earth would he want to come back, unless the money offered was more than they'd cut him for in the first place?

Once again Patriots and problems dealing with medical issues.
Is this a pattern and a problem or just the percentages expected in the NFL?
I don't know but I am less than confident about the Pats medical team's performance.

I don't think this is about the patriots screwing the pooch on the money as they did with Welker.

There were other teams interested in his services. I think that he could have been able to negotiate with SF, and could even now, if he really wants to play.

It's industry standard. Bigger, faster athletes colliding with more force = more injuries. I would think the hurry up offenses will only exacerbate the problem as there are more plays to be injured on.

Went to a high school game in Miami last week with the two best teams in the country and the collisions were truly frightening. Compared to a typical Mass high school game, it was like comparing today's NFL to 60s NFL. The collisions are just far more violent.

I don't think it's the Patriots screwing him over, either. This seems more like a case of the Patriots either playing routine hardball, or just deciding to go in another direction, before changing their mind. Also, McDaniels was the only coach Lloyd ever really got along with, so turning down the other offers doesn't surprise me, either.

Hopefully the kids improve and Amendola and Gronk get healthy in time for the tough part of the sked. If not, the Pats may have no choice but to up their offer to BL in order to bring him in to help out.

Ditto here but, should things not work out with the kids and with some improved health, beggars can't be choosers.

I would rather then try Hooman or Slater at WR than Brandon Lloyd right now. Last year Brandon Lloyd had the quietest 900yds in Football, most of the yards came in three games and I think he played all 16. Edelperson was taking playing time from him before he got hurt last year so that should tell you. I think One or Two of the Kid's will work out which is all we need with a Healthy Gronk and DA.

I would have liked Lloyd back on a value deal, but I don't know if I blame any veteran for not coming back on the veteran minimum. The $900k isn't worth it for some veterans who have made decent money throughout their career for more wear and tear on their bodies.

Re: Patriots have reached out to brandon lloyd

The unanswered question is when this happened.

Back in March the Patriots negotiated with Lloyd to take a pay cut to play for them in 2013. When an agreement could not be reached he was released.

So per the original article on Pro Football Talk, that would be factually correct that the Patriots did indeed attempt to get Lloyd to play for the club this year.

The headlines and re-reports imply that the Patriots just recently attempted to sign Lloyd - but there is nothing to support that.
