Private Workout. Where the confusion lies is a South Florida story about his visit to Miami where they claim he "visited" NE, up until then all we had was the PW report. The Florida reporter is semi-reliable so that's why I'm tentatively penciling him in as one of the 30 - though Aaron Wilson's article matches what we thought we knew. If I can find a credible report for someone else visiting I'll drop Thomas in favor of them, but for now he's as good as anyone to pencil in.

Aha! Actually, no, I'll have 30 because I drop Thomas due to the question regarding the report of his visit. ;)

While we're updating each other, Rusty Smith should get a "C" for (Belichick, B. O'Brien)...either that or two PW's and two C's. :stars2:

“I did have a private workout with the (Indianapolis) Colts, and I had a visit with the (New England) Patriots,” [Brandon] Deaderick said. “But supposedly, most guys get drafted by a team that never contacts them, so I don’t know what to expect. I got six calls Monday, and I got 17 (Tuesday).”
Okay, now my "visit" numbers are officially hosed up.

Scout.com: Feeling A Draft
[TE Steve] Maneri played in the Texas vs. the Nation All-Star game in February and thought he helped his draft stock, while also putting together a solid performance at Temple’s Pro Day. He said the Patriots, Seahawks, Falcons, Raiders, Giants, Jets and Eagles have shown the most interest.
There's an MC TE/OT.

Re: Updated: 4/12/2010 (149 total prospects)

Gotta wonder if he actually means "Official Visit" or simply that he visited with Pats representatives while they were in town. Casual usage versus specific usage.
Post surgery? He was more than likely an official visit for the medical evaluation.

Between medical evals and getting inside their heads with film study/personal interaction assessment you can pretty much match each of the 31 to one of those two categories. Assign an "M" for medical eval and "H" for knowledge/personality eval and see how you grade them. Some will fall in both, rank it it in order of importance just to see how it looks.

Re: Updated: 4/12/2010 (149 total prospects)

I was beginning to wonder if Worthington's name would pop up on the Pats' radar. Probable PFA according to CBS (not that I put all my stock in CBS' tracking of rankings, just that they're the quickest complete list to access).
Per Profootballweekly's value board purportedly put together after visiting with NFL personnel, and NFL Draft Scout, yes, he's a PFA projection. I looked at the NE visits and private workouts as ranked by those two and Gosselin's Top 100, the three are all pretty much in agreement through three rounds, and the two who rank players into PFA projections were rarely in disagreement. NE is clearly gearing up to shop in the first, late second/third, and six/seven.

Bulldogs hoping to hear their names called in NFL draft | al.com
Defensive end Jeremy Maddox finished his career second behind fomer A&M and current Indianapolis Colts star Robert Mathis in sacks and tackles for loss.

-----

"It would be a dream come true," said Maddox, who has garnered interest from the Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots. "I'm encouraged. I've put up good numbers. I've produced every year. I just need somebody to give me a chance."

Aren't teams only allowed 30 official visits?

I remember reading that Brian Price's visit was canceled due to "scheduling issues." That would reduce the list to 30.

There was a fresh report a week afterwards saying he had/was visited/ing. If I had to guess I'd say Kurt Coleman's reported visit was on-campus, but I'm not too worried about being off by one.
