Danny Batten Draft Journal- Week 6Inconclusive, but a pretty good bet NE was one who spoke with him.
DraftSeason: How was your experience at the East/West Shrine game? Did any teams show you more interest than others?
Patrick: It was an amazing experience, matching up against some of the best receivers in the nation. I would say the Bears, Tampa Bay, Patriots, and the Panthers.
I met with the Steelers, Dolphins, Cowboys, Ravens, Packers, Falcons, Chiefs, Patriots, Panthers, Eagles, 49ers, Raiders, Broncos, Saints, Vikings, Jets, Giants, Titans, Rams, Jaguars, Colts, and Bengals.

CS: During your time at the Shrine game, I’m sure you met with a number of teams. What teams did you meet with and were there teams that showed more interest in you than others?
Saffold: I basically talked with every team; they want to get your information, see what you can do on the field and critique you from those standpoints. The teams that showed the most interest in me were the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. There were a bunch of other teams I spoke with; it was just a pleasure to talk with every team, because they tell you what you should work on.

Along those lines, Clemson defensive end/outside linebacker Ricky Sapp said he met with Patriots scouts here and a big topic of discussion is how he might fit in the 3-4 defense. "One of the biggest things they were talking about was scheme wise and dropping [in pass coverage] and rushing off the edge," he said. Sapp, a projected late first-round or second-round pick, said Clemson had a special 3-4 package that was utilized at times, so he has some experience dropping into coverage.
Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer said he was preparing for a meeting today with the Patriots. Dwyer is one of the bigger backs in the draft, measuring in at 5-foot-11, 229 pounds, and could be a target if the Patriots were looking to get back to the Antowain Smith/Corey Dillon type attack it had in the early 2000s.
