Makes sense for him ... but not if he wants to return to the Senate or be Govenor in RI....actually, he won't get anywhere being a democrat in RI .... he is not a good old boy. I think he should stay Republican and try to invigorate a stagnant Republican party in RI to give hte voters more choice.
Good don't let the door hit ya in the butt on the way out.
Ya know, I was really thinking during the campaign "That ********* in RI is going to win re-election and switch parties after the election and that might possibly switch control of the Senate from the Repubs to the dems and he will be a hero to the left by betraying the right like the scumbag he is...."
Obviously, it didn't quite work out the way I predicted, but the notion that he could be switching parties certainly isn't coming as a surprise to me (or to anyone with a pulse, for that matter).
When is RI's next Senate election...? 2 years or 4 years from now..?
"He is not a good old boy"...? Are you kidding..?!? The dude's family held that seat for 30 years or something like that. You really don't get to be much more of a "good old boy" than that.
He's a RINO anyways.
I did vote for him however.
That was my conflicted vote this time around, really liked him and overall he looked a lot like a conservative democrat, but could not continue the abuse of power of GWB.
Another loss for the 'big tent' party.
