I guess you don't know much about Liebs, because he's no liberal. When you're pro life, a Bush toadie and agree with the evangelical Republicans on virtually every social issue it's hard to call yourself a liberal.

Joe's no more a "liberal" than Bush is a "conservative". Stop being simplistic and try to look a little deeper than what you read from dumbass posters like me.

Well a few years ago we were being told by Algore and dems that Joe L should be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, now he not fit to be dog catcher.

    Interesting.

Okay, so pro-life and vocal support of the Iraq war are now liberal positions. Whatever you're smoking, I want some of it!

Great news about McKinney though. She's a disgrace. Hank Johnson is a much stronger canidate for the general.

That's because when liberals see "(D)" next to anyone's name they assume the person is a liberal. Same way a "conservatives" see the "(R)" they automatically assume the guy is against taxes, gun control and spends less.

    Yeah, you're right on abortion.

I still don't consider him anywhere close to being liberal. Anyone that has a (D) in front of their name is a liberal in a social conservative's book anyway. For a liberal he has a number of conservative positions:

    For the Patriot act

For Michael Hayden as CIA director

    For the Graham amendment,

    For Gonzales for Attorney general

For John Roberts for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

    Against raising the minimum wage

A member of the Federalist society

Voted against SB 317 which would have prevented which was designed to protect personal information from govt. examination.

And a unabashed cheerleader for the Iraq war.

Incidentally, his 2005 score was 66 according to the National Journal ratings. And oh yeah, Sean Hannity loves the guy.

So if I understand you correctly Orrin Hatch (and the majority of pubbies in the senate) isn't a conservative because he voted for J Reno for AG and all Clinton's Supreme Court appointee's.

    Interesting.

We need new people representing this country..

Not people who lose and then change party from a dem to ind to re-enter the senate....Change with new people is good, change with the same people is just the same...

He should take his defeat as a sign that people want change, thats why lamont won and joe lost...

Instead he will change his partyname to give it another go.

Nice resolve and steadfast determination, going against the people.

Not at all. But making Liebs out to be a Ted Kennedy or even a JOhn Kerry style liberal is a bit of a leap. He's taken a lot of conservative positions. That of course is his right, and frankly, I don't mind independent thinkers. But he's not a liberal.

appears you don't know much about Liebs first he is pro-choice, has disagreed with Bush on many issues particularly social issues. Stop reading the lies from the Lamont camp.

Funny part is the independent voters of CT combined with cross over republicans will get him elected in November to represent the majority of the CT citizens not just the half of the democratic party that is ultra left.

heh, Lamont is only a new person in name......he is spouting the same old BS partisan politics the ultra left of the democratic party has been spouting for years now. More Lieberman's are what this country actually needs, moderates that forgo partisan party politics in favor accepting ideas from all sources that make this country a better place to live.

Lieberman had a 90% rating from the ADA.

I will predict that Lieberman will win the Senate seat in Nov, enraging the netroots. The dems are 35% of registered voters in CT, 40% of dems voted, Lamont got aroung 50% of the people who voted 7-8% of the Ct voters.

Now I don't have a dog in this fight I don't live in Ct, but this will be interesting. BTW Lieberman alluded to bigotry on the part of some of the bloggers.

heh, yeah rejected by 52% of democrats. Too bad 48% of democrats wanted him. Now add in all the Republicans who will cross over and the independents in CT and watch how he is ACCEPTED in November while Lamont is REJECTED.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good rant..!! I remember Liberman as being targeted by none other than the great William F. Buckley in multiple columns and pieces. Until the War on Terror issue arose, he was as liberal and staunchy Democratic as they come.

I mean, for Pete's sake, does anybody in here think for a minute the feminists would let the Democrats nominate a pro-life guy for Vice Presidency...?!?

bingo. btw I do have a dog in this race and his name is Joe Lieberman, as a registered republican who has voted for him the last 3 times he ran, you can bet I'll be voting this time too.

It just goes to show that the Democratic party is devoid of ideas, all they have is their anti-Bush rhetoric which will not fly with Republicans and Independents in CT. Just another reason why Jodi Rell will beat DeStefano for Governor by a landslide in Nov. too. Because she is viewed very much like a Lieberman as an independent thinker who can cross party lines to work with the other side.

The irony of the situation is that a huge Lamont supporter was/is the former Governor and Senator (whom Lieberman defeated) Lowell Weicker.

Weicker was the Lieberman of the Republican party, an independent thinker who wouldn't toe the party line. Now he supports a party hack/mouth piece over an independent thinker. That is one long grudge to hold 18yrs all because the guy had the audacity to run and beat you when you were Senator.

Perhaps one of the resident libs here can explain the following Lamont position to me.........Lamont had the support of Jesse Jackson obviously for the black vote, which btw he lost since he lost the big cities like Bridgeport, but I digress. Jackson had the same position as Lieberman on the Terry Schiavo case. Yet Lamont also accepted the endorsement of Terry Schiavo's husband. Can you say hypocrite or perhaps simply a politcian who speaks out of both sides of his mouth. Like I said, the independents and cross over republicans will see through his BS come November.

Leiberman put a gun to his head when he wrote that during war, you shouldn't criticize the president. That will continue to haunt him. By November, as more facts about how this illegal occupation came to be, he will be further scorned along with the rest of the neo-con cabal.

Its a sea change and you will tell your grandkids it started in Connecticut.

As for you Rape-ublicans that support him, go for it...tell your buddies to vote for him too. :singing:

Huh??? Of course you like JoeL..he's one of your guys who supports Bush and teh war and many other Buish policies!! Party hack??? I guess you don't know anything about CT politics..Lamont a party hack?? If anything that is what Lieberman is..As for "independent" thinking..you should call that "Republican" thinking..for that is closer to Joe Not-Lib. I think many have seen his arrogance from throughout all the campaign. When he first ran how he ranted and raved that ANYONE had the audacity to actually run against him..to his shrill and poor showing at the debate. Joe has always been about Joe..wanting it both ways..like the fact he would NOT give up his seat when he ran as VP..If Gore had eon, the Dems would have lost a seat..same reason he's NOT supporting Lamont..it's ALl about him. Sorry..that arrogance is NOT needed at all. And one has to remember how he attacked Clinton so piously and pompusly..being so sanctimonious about what he had done and yet is so tight lipped about the moral decay of the Bush Administration. In fact, he attacked other Democrats who were speaking out against the war. What a tool of Bush!! He and his smarmy campaign manager need to apologize to Lamont for their attacks and accusations about the so-called "hack" against his web site. Me thinks that maybe the lack of bandwith might have had something to do with it. Sleazy Joe needs to be kicked out for GOOD!!
